Note to Delle:
All's well! Tiny Mystic and I have been wending our way back to Arizona ever so funly. Two nights in Reno, one in Tonopah, last night & tonight just outside of Las Vegas, and home tomorrow (Sunday). I'll write more once home.
It's been a very good last few weeks!

Having a dusty beer and staring at the growing pile of items in the front room. My husband cleaned the house while I was gone. I really need to keep it clean. Right after this beer.

Ouch yg, sorry to hear you got banged up. I don't know the details of course, but from the sounds of it, and what with big steel having a mind of its own and all, maybe we should be grateful it wasn't any worse. Not that it isn't bad though, so please take it easy and let yourself mend for a bit.

Yes, this, yes. Before and after the Burn were among my favorite parts of the burn this year. When we are clean, perhaps. Hopeful before, and cleansed after.

Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
GREETINGS, ALL!
I had a great burn too.
Memories were made and remembered. The bittersweet element of it didn't hit until later, knowing I won't be back for a few years. Don't worry, though. I will return. This PhD thing is something I've put off for a long time, but now.....I NEED to do it. I'll be putting all of my considerable experience, whatever intellect I have, and what few personal resources into this big push. Frankly, I may just enjoy this. First hurdle: qualifying exams. We shall see. Sometime late this semester or early next semester, it will be done. Then, coursework, progress reports, etc., etc., and finally a dissertation (research, original) and defense of same.
They may let me take some history courses, too. Who knows? Nevada history? I might just....for fun.
A challenge may be just what I need at this point.
Love y'all!

Thank you, and you're welcome. I'm glad you found me before I switched to doing headlights instead of hands; hands were a lot more interactive.Just_Joe wrote:Side note.... For those of you wondering if Sparr is a real person, he is. I had a random encounter with him during my seven hour Exodus yesterday. He was wandering around between pulses with a spray bottle offering "vinegar for your hands". Very burner-like.
I took him up on it and proceeded to chew on my fingernails. Kinda like munching on a salad. Thank you, sir.

Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
Great idea for an exodus treat, too, Sparr - kudos!
Yggy, ouch! Take things easy, and I hope things heal up nice and quick.
Long time no see, everybody! Well, most of you... I had the good fortune of running into a whole bunch of ePlayans and other new and familiar faces out there. I had a pretty great burn, though of course there are always things I wish I'd done more of and already have a mental checklist of things to tweak and improve for next time.
I'm finally pretty caught up on emails, and it feels like I'm over the hump on the cold I picked up upon my return... I'm looking forward to going back through the rest of the bins to be cleaned and re-packed (kitchen, tools, etc). I've only barely scratched the surface on going through my pics - I didn't take all that many, but I'm hoping a few of 'em turned out well.

Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
I actually do mean literal headlights. We didn't expect to be in the exodus line past dark. As dusk approached, I decided we'd all be a lot safer if everyone didn't have a week of playa dust built up on their headlights and taillights.Just_Joe wrote:He did!.... unless were talking about the literal definition of headlights....Dr. Pyro wrote:If you think hands are interactive, you ought to try tits next time.

Hello, Bar. Stopped in to say how great it was to see so many of you in the dust. I
had to leave the m&g early for a work shift so I was bummed that I missed some of you.
Hope everyone is getting dusty gear cleaned/stowed for next year..a slow process here
with beautiful weather during working hours and rain storms during free time.
Coffee all around...

When I was in 11th grade, I craked a rib playing basketball in gym class. That alone was painful. Ran headon into the pole.

Well, gotta finish packing.
Leaving tomorrow at 2:15 for Philadelphia via Las Vegas, on Southwest airlines which means a cramped Boeing 737-700.
Be back in good ol Nevada next Saturday.
