Is Burning Man considered as Licensed public campground?

Post by anthorana » Tue Sep 27, 2016 1:39 am

Hi guys,

I have an issue with the owner of the rv as he is extra charging for being at burning man, and would like to know if Burning Man is considered as a Licensed Public Campground.

Thanks for your help.

A.

Have you ever been to Burning Man?
It's amazing he even allows it to go there at all! If I were him you bet I'd charge extra.
Rigs get TRASHED out there. Not necessarily by the people, but by the environment.
I only bring an old camper I'm not worried about. I hate having to carry it there on my nice truck, and it takes many weekends and lots of effort to ever get it properly clean again.
And no, it's not a public campground. It's a private event.

No.

It is a permitted private event on public land.

I'm giving this a nudge over to the Camps & Villages board, since that seems to be a better fit. As others have said, no Burning Man is not held at a licensed public campground. It sounds like you may not have done your due diligence or read the fine print carefully, and been hit with an extra fee for taking a rental vehicle to Burning Man. That's a shame - if you had done your homework beforehand, you'd have seen that as Captain Goddammit mentions rigs do get trashed and it is not uncommon for RV renters to charge additional fees when a vehicle is used off-road or at places they feel cause undue wear or incur additional costs to properly clean.
