My trike has an electric motor kit and it has been to the event 3 times (7.5 weeks total time).
During the last two days of the event this year; about 10-15 times my thumb throttle would not activate the motor.
The fix for such a problem is usually one of the wire connections has backed out a bit. Each time that it happened, I went though the drill of checking every connection. Sometimes this worked and sometimes it did not.
My electric trike kit has brake levers that de-activate the motor when one of them is pulled.
Three weeks ago, I sprayed some Teflon dry lube into each of the break levers. Since then, I have not been able to replicate the problem.
Apparently, the problem was not a loose wire, but that one of the brake levers was sticking in the motor de-activation mode.

For the event I bring an aerosol can of silicon, wd40, white lightening chain lube, pressurized air, powdered graphite and chapstick for zippers. I STILL run into things that stick or bind. Burning Man sucks. Don't go.
