Short Cut to Nirvana - party Thursday, film opening Friday

Post by burningspore » Tue Dec 07, 2004 4:29 pm

Hi, this is Maurizio from SF and Nick from NY, veteran burners since the last century, in San Fran for the opening of our film Short Cut to Nirvana, a documentary about an event 25,000 times bigger than BM - the Kumbh Mela!

There were several burners at the Kumbh Mela and many more know something about it. It has many similarities to Burning Man - a vast temporary tent city, brightly lit camps, music, dust, noise, heat, a mass celebration (25 million people dipping in the Ganges!), and some extraordinary and wonderful characters with a message of harmony and peace. There's also an appearance by the Dalai Lama (who hasn't yet attended BM).

The film opens on Friday 10th at the Lumiere in SF, Act I&II in Berkeley and at the Rafael Film Center, San Rafael. You can find a trailer on the website at http://melafilms.com

Also we're having a pre-opening Indian-flavored party at Studio Z, 314 11th St on Thursday with dj Cheb i Sabbah, bhangra dance with Dholrhythm Dance Troupe, projections, and live sitar and tabla. Everyone is welcome! Proceeds to benefit Project Ahimsa.

Please tell all your friends and join us at the party and on opening weekend. Basically we're self distributing this film and need all the help we can get to spread the word. We'll be doing Q&As at the Lumiere on Friday, Act I&II on Saturday and San Rafael on Sunday. Hope to see you there!

Thanks and namaste,

Maurizio and Nick
