Planning on going to burning man this year for the first time. Going to be flying in from seattle and plan to take the burner express. I was going to go with my best friend, but unfortunately she can't make it due to her financial situation and other things. So it looks like I will be alone, I don't know have any other friends or family interested in going. I'm a little nervous for that, but i see it as a challenge and an opportunity to learn more about myself along with being a part of a community like this.
Does anyone else have any pointers for a first timer going alone? Also, anyone have experience with the burner express? Than you

Read Eplaya. There are years of information, snark and general BS here. All helpful.
Redditt has some good info too.
Ak Air tickets Seattle-Reno seem to have their best prices about 2 months before the burn.
The Burner Express site has never opened until a month or two before the burn.
Give yourself a couple of days in Reno to buy all your stuff and get used to the heat.
You asked about a tent. Needs to be small and light weight for flying/travelling. If camping by yourself get at least a 3 man tent. You will appreciate the room. A fly that comes close to the ground keeps a lot of dust out. Read the threads on tents.

Popeye's right about getting a 3 or 4 man tent. I do recommend you get a tent whose windows zip fully closed when not in use, or use spring clamps and fleece blankets to block any remaining mesh. Whether or not the rain fly comes low to the ground doesn't make a huge difference if there's lots of unzipped mesh/mesh at the top of the tent. (The dust is as fine as baby powder, and will blow up under the rain fly and through any mesh.)
