Even on Tuesday, a placer may suggest you pack up.
Almost certain by Wednesday, you'll hear from someone.
If you want the max time on the playa, arrive at the earliest possible time, which isn't announced yet what time that will be. If you get there too early, even by a few minutes, no soup for you, go to the lot where people who don't read JackRabbitSpeaks go....sort of like purgatory.

Mountain Bobby, So here's the tiny bit of experiences from my group. We all arrive before the gate opens. We work our asses off in various departments every day until the gates open. Some of us in 2 or 3 departments a day. This is fun. Greeters, Census, Playa Info an ambulance driver etc... There is building before and strike teams after. Just say you were on a major break down crew. Staying an extra few days to disassemble Center Camp. On Tuesday when the place is getting empty, you would move to where the other crew members are staying. (Center Camp Camp). I'm simplifying it here but you get the picture?
