Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP) question

Post by antio » Wed Mar 15, 2017 10:21 am

Hello fellow human beings.

Me and a friend are preparing for BM for the first time this year. We are in the UK, so some extra stuff to think about. We've booked plane tickets and a car and have lists and maps and all. Talk about over-excitement.

The one thing we DON'T have yet is tickets! We'll try the main sale like everyone else, but I'm exploring options if that doesn't work out. So, I have a question about STEP:

On the tickets page, under STEP > buyers, it says:

"As soon as tickets are released into STEP they will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis via email notifications to registered participants."

First-come, first-served based on what? This is confusing me :(

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

First come first served means in order of signing up for the STEP program. It's a race just like the main sale ticket race.
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Oh, I see. So, as opposed to the main sale where pre-registration can take place at any time in those 2 days and the time doesn't matter, for STEP you have to register as quickly as possible? And do you know how long they will give you to complete a ticket purchase from when you get the email?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks so much for the help!

Don't place too much hope on the Step Program. Excess tickets are more often sold to individuals. Another plan is to get involved with a local burner group now. Help with projects. Go to meetings and events. Friends help each other when it comes to the ticket shortage.

Last year I think it was 72 hours to respond to the step email.

Thank you both!

I've read mixed things about getting involved in groups as a first timer. So far I've decided to go it solo for the first time and challenge myself to meet as many people as possible on site and join a group the next time (I'm sure there'll be a next time!). That's not to say that this won't change...

Thanks again! :)

Being involved with your regional groups does not mean you need to camp with them. I did get involved and still burned solo last year. To be honest its another venue to possibly obtain tickets. They may be part of a large theme camp and 'might' have extra tickets or a camp member has to cancel, etc. The main sale and STEP are hit and miss so networking either here, FB, & regional groups are the only way to get tickets for the birgin. They do become available the last few weeks before the burn but you need to be diligent to the point of obsession. That's how I got mine last year. Both ticket and VP were bought from different people, a week or so apart mins after they were posted for sale on this forum. But I lived on this forum from April to departure to BRC. LOL
2nd time better than the first. And the first was pretty Freakin' Great!
I am Camp2. - A solo camp - Stop by and say Hey!, 8) Gotta beer?

If you are another Solo Burner & very 'Radically Self Reliant' - Maybe we can 'Do What We Do!' :P

Thanks eldergeekaz, that's a good idea. I thought local groups would mainly need campers, but I guess it doesn't hurt anyone to reach out.

I am already obsessed with getting there, hence all the questions about STEP :)

Thanks again!

The more people you know ahead of time, the wider your network. You might meet someone locally who finds out they can't go or they come up with an extra ticket and to whom are they going to give it?...oh yeah...that nice person Antio I met at the gathering last week...
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

Haha, oooh that's nice! :) I like to think I am a nice person, but that rarely works in my favour. Hopefully it may, in this case.
I've already started going a bit silly crazy with all this ticket thing...
