FirstBurn

Post by ActaBoy17+ » Tue Mar 21, 2017 11:18 am

Hi Everyone:
I'm a first time Burner from Florida. I've got several fellow theatre folk who have been to one or more over the past several years, and it's something i've had on my list for a decade or more- but my job has not allowed me to do so ....until NOW!
Being a theatre guy who is into object theatre/puppetry as well as Ritual, i'm excited about this years Radical Ritual theme, and want to contribute. I've scoured the message boards and FB page for like-minded puppet people, without much success at this point. I'd be grateful for anyone who could lead me in the right direction to find my part of the tribe.

Thanks- and looking forward to (hopefully) be there for this year's BurningMan!

Hola and hello...

Is there a regional burn or group in Florida? Maybe a Florida burners fb page? If you can make local connections they can be quite helpful. Stick around, read all the things and engage with us too
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

OK, thanks. I'll check out the Florida Burners FB page if i can find it. I know there are several events around Florida and i know some people who have attended in the past.

I appreciate your help!

Welcome, Actaboy!

A quick search of last year's theme camps
http://burningman.org/culture/history/b ... eme-camps/

. . . for "puppet" found me this result:
Tsunami Camp

Tsunami Camp welcomes YOU to stop by for a frosty snow cone, a playa fashion makeover, a puppet show, or other performance. Our daily schedule is posted next to the stage for your convenience.

Contact: [email protected]
Hometown: Los Angeles
You could email them and see if they're camping this year and if they need drop-in or live-in performers.

You could also expand the search to "circus", which had many, many more results (if certainly less specific to puppetry).

Actasboy. Welcome to eplaya. I went to the San Francisco burner equinox a couple of weeks ago. The theme was 'sock puppets'. There was a sock puppet making station and a puppet kissing booth. (Hey, if you happen to see the video of my sock puppet making out with a tyrannosaurus rex please email me a copy.) These guys were all puppets all the time. You may be able to hunt them down. Welcome to eplaya, blah, blah, blah, etc..... Sorry. You've arrived at happy hour.

Thanks Ratty. I went to the "Burnal Equinox" page on FB and checked it out- it looks like it was pretty awesome! Didn't see any of the puppet company names or contact info.- but thanks a lot for the heads-up. Just looking for a camp where i could contribute during my first Burn.

Your help is much appreciated!

Thanks for the welcoming- i am psyched to be a part of Man 2017. Just figuring out how i may contribute to the mass of creative brilliance. I'm in 'the mix for tix' and hoping for a good outcome on March 29th!

Hope 2CU there!

Welcome.

Bring a little folding puppet theater. Set up as a drop in at welcoming camps or our on the open playa. Performance doesn't always need a fixed point.

Excellent. Do stick around. When spare tickets float up, it they don't go to known local burners, now and then someone may think of that nice guy on eplaya. You never know.

Might check in with Killbuck & Nilasnake. They have been known to do a little sideshow sort'a thing.
