I first learned about Burning Man in college 10 years ago, and after much dreaming and debating and soul-searching, I've finally mapped out 2018 as the year I want to go. I'm 30 years old, and employed as a foster care social worker in Prince George's County; it's not a job that gives a lot of free time, but when I can, I love fantasy fiction writing (especially urban fantasy), and I've recently started getting back into sewing and crafts. I'm also on the autism spectrum, and I really want to design a costume that's based around stimming, with different beads and cloth textures and things you're not only allowed, but supposed to fidget with.
The 2018 date is mostly because I already have plans for Labor Day this year, but I figure it'll also be good to have extra time to research and prepare (especially since I've never camped in the desert before). I don't know any Burners in the Baltimore-DC area, but if you're reading this, I'd love to talk to veteran Burners! Share your advice - I am eager to learn
