An experience with these style stakes?

Any experience with these on the playa? I got a free hook up but don't have any experience with them.

I've seen them used, never that short, and always with a very slow turning specialized tool that slips over the top.
Doing them with a long bar could be possible until you get close to the ground, as of course you should put them in at an angle.

And, they are short and need to go all the way in, maybe even make the eye below the playa surface.

Free is good, but I would certainly borrow a piece of steel like weight lifting bar, or a 1" rebar piece and see if one person can do it.

I used a crowbar to remove a auger twice as long, and I'd never want to do that again.

I've attempted to use this style of stake - it did not go well. The blade part on the bottom just made a hole that filled with loose playa and made the stake very wobbly and unstable. If you do try them I'd bring some extra rebar as backup.

I've used similar forest camping (because we didn't bring tent pegs and the guys next to us had these spare) - they dio ok holding the tent down, but as a previous poster said, churned up the earth pretty badly.

I'd suggest they probably wouldn't hold up to the winds you're likely to need to deal with unless very carefully screwed down without disturbing the playa around them.
