3 Virgins - Brexiting Early

Post by SouthCoastBurners » Thu Apr 06, 2017 3:15 am

Hi,

We're three young(-ish) British gents joining the community for the first time. Our plan is to fly into SF about a week before we head up towards Reno and on to Black Rock. We just wanted to say hello and seek out the mellower elements of BRC before we arrive!

We're interested in finding out about camp vacancies or participating in some other way. Our interests include photography, film making, yoga and some more meditative aspects of Burning Man as well as a decent game of ultimate frisbee... Our priority would be to find somewhere with shade or air conditioning that we can enjoy a cold beer and a sunset!! :D

We've had it with Brexit so we thought we'd come and see what all the fuss is about with Trump. Hopefully he won't ban us from entering the country!! Any tips for travellers from abroad would be greatly appreciated as we're sure it's going to be a mad experience.

Toodle-pip... A, M & P

Welcome!
FYI, there is no Ultimate Frisbee allowed on the playa. We are a Disc Golf only event. The course usually sets up on the 2:00 side of town. Your lids will still serve you well as plates as you venture through the city indulging in it's various gastronomic delights, just don't let the rangers see you throwing them.

Sure! Burning Man is a place where you fly in and book accommodations.
I'm sure something can be arranged and I'm certain Black Rock City will continue to be the great, unique place it was with more people who don't do a FUCKING THING in the survival guide .

Welcome Aboard.

Guys, you totally are capable of making your own shade. Join up with the other Brits posting, that's nine, and I saw a solo poster too ... Cool British Guys Camp could be a reality!

Air conditioning? Please tell me you are snark masters.

In some ways it is like Piccadilly Circus, except there is no London around it.... just 100 miles of dust. The only thing you mentioned that is included in your ticket purchase is the sunset. Do work hard to find a camp or spend your first week here buying too much gear you will use once. This is my first burn also, but fortunately my government let me practice living in the desert for extended periods.

Most of our beers are not up to Euro specs, but in 103 temps(40C) you will find cold beer is like sex (the worst is absolutely wonderful). In 1990 I was fortunate to meet some Brits in the desert who had procured Fosters from the Australians. Make an effort to hook up and I shall repay a 27 year old debt with some cold ones.
How many old burners does it take to change a light bulb? Just one to change the bulb..... and five more to reminisce how good the old bulb was....

Hey there, welcome to ePlaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Fosters? Euro beers? SMH

OP: I heard the Hilton BRC has vacancies that time of year. Nice air conditioned rooms. Moist towelettes

...... good thing I didn't mention getting lobsters from the Pakistanis..... (for clarity: I'm speaking of a desert "vacation" far far away, not Black Rock.)

Welcome to eplaya. Have you started reading the survival guide and first timers advice? You know it can be 100 degrees durring the day and 30 at night? Dress accordingly. Preparation is half the fun. Hug you in the dust later.
