6 chaps from UK with amazing nicknames
Hi guys,
We are 6 resourceful chaps from London, UK preparing for our first burn in 2017.
So many questions. So much to look forward to.
We're expert in craftsmanship, cooking, DJ'ing and being British.
We'd love to be in a camp near 8:00, 9:00 or 10:00.
If there is any info we'd love to get involved!
Thanks
Joseph

Welcome Aboard.
Six of you, that's easily a camp in itself! If you are looking for camps, there is a people seeking camps thread in the Theme Camps forum, and theme camps which may be recruiting. Also, look though the theme camp listings from last year and reach out to specific ones which align with your interests. As someone with a tiny theme camp (5 core members), I get requests from people who obviously haven't read a thing about what my camp does, so be sure you do your research! With what dues can run in some camps, you probably can fund your own Cool British Guys Camp.

Thanks for the welcome!
I've been looking at last years list of camps, however found it difficult to get contact details for them. Is there a better way of reaching them?
I've posted another note in the Seeking Camps section too.
We'll keep going..
Thanks
Joseph

Yes, the contact info can be a little obscure, and not every placed camp returns. But honestly, with a group of six, what you pay in dues is quite the lump sum, and what is promised may not be delivered and you'll be stuck anyway, and you may be tied to a work schedule to be part of a camp. Going as a solo group may be a better option if you cannot find a camp which you really click with. It is not impossible, and may be preferable.
We paid dues once, and now just prefer to do our own thing. Others have great experiences with theme camps. You still have plenty of time to ask around and get a lot of different input.

You will get way more out of your first burn if you are radically self reliant and form your own camp!

Re: 6 chaps from UK with amazing nicknames
Sorry but you don't sound very resourceful.
Six people coming IS a camp.
It sounds like you want to fly in and have someone else take care of the actual being prepared to be in the middle of the desert part. Not just you guys but EVERYONE who thinks this is how it's done.
That's the thing the newest people don't seem to get. This isn't an easy trip.
Anyone is welcome BUT you gotta understand that this event is what it is because of how it is. Flying in from too far away is even harder.
Once enough of you fly in and book accommodations rather than being self reliant burners, and bring essentially nothing, the whole thing will be so watered down it won't be worth the effort for those of us who do "bring it" and you can all fly out there and look at each other.

on a lighter note.... what are those amazing nicknames?
How many old burners does it take to change a light bulb? Just one to change the bulb..... and five more to reminisce how good the old bulb was....
flexibility is the key to success....... and poor planning is the key to flexibility

Hey there, welcome to ePlaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome, Jomishon18!
You can look for camps in last year's listing & google whether they're still in existence/planning to go in 2017. Many of them have Facebook presences. If they're indeed returning, email them as to why you like them and how you can specifically further their mission.

You might like to network with other people from London, if you haven't.

Six people are a lot to add to a single camp, so don't be discouraged if you're turned down. You can be a new, informal, unplaced camp if you don't find a compatible, larger group. Hang up a sign and call yourself something.

Not active for 2017 just yet, but there is at least one, maybe two, groups on FB where Camps are looking for Campers.
