5 awesome lads coming for the first burn.

Hey guys,
4 friends and myself are heading to BM for the first time this year, definitely stocked to experience the holy grail that is Burning Man.
I have spent a lot of time reading on what to do and how to approach our first burn and to be honest I'm torn, a lot of established camps I have contacted which would be a good fit aren't taking on first timers which I can understand.
My question is if we aren't with a camp can we still bring in a generator/? also what are the rules with a sound system, can you set one up if you're not apart of a them camp? Can you arrange to camp with other first timers or is it first in best dressed?

Welcome to eplaya. Good to hear that you're reading up on how to survive. 5 guys is a camp. Anyone can have a generator or sound system. (Please be considerate with both.)

Where are you coming from? I've never heard, "or is it first in best dressed?" Sounds like something Aussies would say. Or being 'Lads' you could be Irish. Come on tell us.

Have you made travel arrangements to the event? Bought a tent yet.

It is entirely possible to make arrangements with other newcomers here on eplaya, and figure out how to meet up and camp together. Theme camps have begin this way.

Yes, you can have a generator, and yes, you can have sound. There are guidelines for both, with sound having some explicit rules. Having camp sound is great, driving your neighbors batty, not so much. Same with generators. try to bring a baffle box, and be aware that with a noisy genny, the sound can be overwhelming when pointed at other camps.
