Over the past few years, I stumbled into consciousness in our world - a world I never knew was possible. A world only in my dreams. But it's the only world I've ever known.
I started burning in Atlanta, Georgia, Alchemy 2015. I've been to a handful of other burns - Transformus, Euphoria, Love Burn. I've grown a lot in two years. I've shifted friends and groups and family. I've learned how to say no for my own sanity and how to love myself first. I've had the opportunity of sharing the joy of our community with a few virgins, and distantly with friends and family who may never be able to visit our world.
In January 2016, I made the decision to go visit Black Rock City in 2017. It feels like only yesterday - but really it was a year and a half ago! Surrounded by friends, listening to their stories of the breathtaking beauty of the city - the sparkly bits they were able to bring back to share with me in that moment. It gives me chills thinking about it now. A feeling of homesickness that I will never forget. How could I feel homesick too - without ever visiting? That's the magic I want to understand. It was going to take some time for me to plan logistically, and I knew I was going to visit.
Thinking back on that moment, I feel years older now. So much more grounded and alive. But, still fueled by the energy of that first moment - I can feel it vibrating inside me.
Can't wait to make it to the Playa this year. Looking forward to traveling across country with my friends, meeting new friends and exploring the city. Still need to find a ticket, but I'm not worried. There's still time.
