Problems with Budget Truck rentals?

Post by wylbur » Wed May 24, 2017 9:13 am

In 2015 and in 2016, Budget unilaterally cancelled my truck rental reservation just days before we were to leave for the Playa. My campmates and I are now in a small bit of litigation against Budget, and we are wondering if this same thing has happened to other Burners in the past 5 years.

If so, we may be able to leverage our case into some significant changes into Budget’s truck rental practices. We’ve done some online research and it looks like this sort of overbooking then cancelling is something Budget does often. This is NOT a class action, and we’re not looking to add other people to the case at this point. If you reach out to us we will not be your lawyer.

But with your stories we may be able to demonstrate to the Court that this is an illegal pattern that Budget engages and and tell the court, and Budget, that it needs to stop so it doesn’t happen to Burners in the future.

Did this happen to you? Email me at [email protected]

Dustily, wylbur.

My Brother in Law worked for Penske truck rental and they did the same thing.
People would show up to get the truck they needed for work and they simply wouldn't have it.
They have a policy to never say no to a reservation. Then if/when you show up, they scramble to get you a truck.

Really shitty, but it happened every day and he had to explain it to the customer.
To days of inspiration, playing hooky, making something out of nothing. The need to express, to communicate. To going against the grain, going insane, going mad. To love and tension, no pension. To more than one dimension

I have dealt with the Budget dealership midtown Sacramento for years and have always been treated fairly. They know I take the box truck to TTITD. Yes, there's a premium for that week (no different than RV rentals I suppose) but to paint all Budget dealerships with the same brush is wrong. I suggest you try using Budget in Sacramento (PM me for phone number) if you want to have satisfactory results.

Thx folks. After last year's mess, we bought our own box truck, so we're no longer looking for a reliable rental.

If you have a story about Budget overbooking you, let me know. Our plan is to tell the court, and Budget, that overbooking needs to stop so it doesn’t happen to Burners in the future.

hope to hear from you -- wylbur.
