In rare cases, individuals become convinced that the sensation they are suffering is due to the presence of real insects on or under the skin. In these cases, patients have what is known as delusional parasitosis. They believe that their skin is inhabited by, or under attack by, small insects or similar parasites, despite repeated reassurances from physicians, pest control experts, and entomologists.

In aesthetics, the uncanny valley is the hypothesis that human replicas which appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit feelings of eeriness and revulsion among some observers.

In The Eumenides, Orestes is told by Apollo at Delphi that he should go to Athens to seek the aid of the goddess Athena. In Athens, Athena arranges for Orestes to be tried by a jury of Athenian citizens, with her presiding. The Erinyes appear as Orestes’ accusers, while Apollo speaks in his defense. The trial becomes a debate about the necessity of blood vengeance, the honor that is due to a mother compared to that due to a father, and the respect that must be paid to ancient deities such as the Erinyes compared to the newer generation of Apollo and Athena. The jury vote is evenly split. Athena participates in the vote and chooses for acquittal. Athena declares Orestes acquitted because of the rules she established for the trial.[16] Despite the verdict, the Erinyes threaten to torment all inhabitants of Athens and to poison the surrounding countryside. Athena, however, offers the ancient goddesses a new role, as protectors of justice, rather than vengeance, and of the city. She persuades them to break the cycle of blood for blood (except in the case of war, which is fought for glory, not vengeance). While promising that the goddesses will receive due honor from the Athenians and Athena, she also reminds them that she possesses the key to the storehouse where Zeus keeps the thunderbolts that defeated the other older deities. This mixture of bribes and veiled threats satisfies the Erinyes, who are then led by Athena in a procession to their new abode. In the play, the "Furies" are thereafter addressed as "Semnai" (Venerable Ones), as they will now be honored by the citizens of Athens and ensure the city's prosperity.[17]

Maybe this should be in the politics thread...

But the .com recession was tittlywinks compared the the Housing crash, when the 93-08 boom ended.... the .com bust affected minimal folks which had a minimal affect of the overall econony...

The housing "Too big to fail" bailout was probably the greatest government engineered heist in American history... because it didn't just mean people would lose wealth in their portfolio, it meant literally millions of Americans could lose their homes.. which was just a bluff, but it led to the $8 trillion Executive Order bailout. Congress testified the next day they had no record of where 5 of the 8 trillion dollars would go...

The Bush family's pockets is my guess... while people were jerking each other off about potentially having a 1/8th Black President, Dick Cheney's nephew lolz

Our fiat currency system intentionally breeds boom-bust cycles... this image will help you understand the recent timeline...

The next recession will be the student loan debts bust..

The only way to the put an end to shenanigans like this is to audit then abolish the Federal Reserve System... that's one of the many reasons Ron Paul was the only modern politician to give me hope that Ameirca is not on the complete verge of collapse...

But hey, at least we got the best military. WWIII

Axolotls should not be confused with waterdogs, the larval stage of the closely related tiger salamanders (A. tigrinum and A. mavortium), which are widespread in much of North America and occasionally become neotenic. Neither should they be confused with mudpuppies (Necturus spp.), fully aquatic salamanders that are not closely related to the axolotl but bear a superficial resemblance.

He often spent much time at the clavier, picking out thirds, which he was ever striking, and his pleasure showed that it sounded good.... In the fourth year of his age his father, for a game as it were, began to teach him a few minuets and pieces at the clavier.... He could play it faultlessly and with the greatest delicacy, and keeping exactly in time.... At the age of five, he was already composing little pieces, which he played to his father who wrote them down.

This key amphibian trait has been inherited all the way back from the first vertebrates ever to climb out of the water onto land, almost 370 million years ago during the Devonian Period – about 140 million years before the earliest dinosaurs.
