So, my first idea for an art installation was a gigantic Endless Knot... which is a Buddhist symbol for the eternal interconnectedness of everything... aka, Radical Inclusion.
I've always found the image aesthetically and spiritually appealing... I Love a wide range of art on the Playa... But my mind always thinks of installations when it comes to Giving back to the Black Rock Community...
I highly doubt I'll have the ability to manifest this installation this year, but if someone did I'd Love to draw up the blueprints and show up early enough to build this piece... or maybe this thread will inspire someone else to...
But basically the above image would be made out of wood, like 28 feet tall, like 36 feet wide and like 8-10 feet deep... the gold part would stick out to provide steps and other steps carved into the garnet part to climb to the top where there could be an observation deck... then the square gaps in the piece could be made flat with padding for folks to chillax and get some shade...
Then of course we Burn it down on Thursday or Friday!
Hopefully this will be my first installation or inspiration thereof... and hopefully it won't be my last.
Just planting a seed...
"The auspicious drawing symbolises the mutual dependence of religious doctrine and secular affairs. Similarly, it represents the union of wisdom and method, the inseparability of emptiness and dependent arising at the time of path, and finally, at the time of enlightenment, the complete union of wisdom and great compassion."
