Mini international camp looking for space/village to join

Post by picsoung » Wed Jun 14, 2017 5:46 pm

Hello dusty friends :)

Our main camp is not going this year, so we are trying to get a small one together with some friends.
We are a group of 3 at the moment, and we will be 5 maximum.

We did not apply for placement on time, so we are looking for a village or a larger camp that need some day interactivity.

***** Our interactivity plan *****
An afternoon bar :)
Two of the campmates will be coming from Spain, so we were thinking about sharing an awesome refreshing beverage called Sangria!!.
We hope to host a Latino/Spanish/Catalan speaking happy hour during the week.
Our temporary name so far: Can Panda (Panda's house). Not related to the beverage.. but pandas are nice :D

***** Our footprint *****
We should have:
- one 16x7 feet tent
- one 2 person tent
- one carpot for shade and bar
-> bar would be a playatech booth
- one carpot for kitchen (unless we can use a shared facility)
- one car/pickup truck

***** Our burner XP *****
This will be my 4th burn, first time starting a camp from scratch. Normally I camp with Spank The Monkey, a 25 ppl camp.
It will be the second burn for Rebeca, and first for Didier.
We are from France, Spain and Argentina.
We live in Barcelona and San Francisco.
We plan to drive from SF, and one of use will take the Burner Express.
We all have tickets.

***** Why we should be friends *****
We are nice, dedicated and enthusiastic people. We are pretty pumped about this small project, we want to bring some fun time in the neighborhood with an international twist.
You are looking to diversity or complete the interactivities of your part of the city, and you may need more hands to build your big thing.

Hope it catches your interest :)
Cheers

It seems to me you don't need anything other than you already have -- I mean, you've got your private structure and some public structure, an idea for interactivity, a ride, all your tickets, and three to five people to make it happen. Why do you need to be a part of some strangers' camp when you ARE your own camp?

We have been placed for ten years, but one year we didn't get around to it, and we ended up having one of our best years, with only six of us. We were way out on K street, surrounded by tent campers and virgins and people who aren't competing for space and attention. Consequently, our little 20 x 20 living room bar became the center of our neighborhood and we made friends from all over the world that still camp with us today.

There is nothing wrong with driving into the event, finding a spot, and making it awesome. In fact, I would suggest that because your numbers are small, you don't NEED placement and shared resources. You have everything you need to transform a quiet backstreet into a real neighborhood. I say go for it. You will likely have a magnificent time, and you won't have to deal with Other People's Expectations of your time and contribution to their camp.

What Chow said. I have a registered theme camp of six people in a larger placed village. That's mostly so I can be found easily. Otherwise a back street would do just fine. Go for it!
