Hello! Looking for a helping hand to finish a project?

Post by SylviaM » Tue Jun 27, 2017 1:22 am

Nice to meet you all. I will be travelling the West Coast in August and I would love to help out with a project in the weeks before Burning Man, I can paint/sew etc. Am a first time burner from the Netherlands, travelling solo. Massage, cooking & yoga skills, Ah yes, and first aid (as I am an MD).

Also looking for tips to join camp and perhaps hitch a ride.

Looking forward getting in touch.
Cheers,
Sylvia

Welcome. Have you considered reaching out to EMS? They have shifts only trained medical professionals can staff. They also have camps dotted throughout BRC.

Welcome, SylviaM! :D

Here's the Emergency Services Department link:
https://burningman.org/event/volunteeri ... -services/

If you don't want to do Emergency Services on the playa (and who could blame you for wanting to explore your more artistic sides?) check out the regional lists in the area you'll be spending your West Coast days near. There are many Burners in Washington, Oregon, and most of all California, particularly near San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. Consider joining their FB groups and email lists . . .

You might also like to see if Green Tortoise Adventure Travel (a hostel that also does bus trips, including one into Burning Man) has a spot open in their bus/camp. Google them!

Thanks for that link.

Ya, did not mean to point her only in that direction. Just EMS, I think, is always looking for certified peeps to do work. And they are organized. But by all means, plenty of other things to do out there.

Seconding Savannah's burner Facebook pages of the town you are visiting before the burn. https://spark.burningman.org/ is also active. You never know when a camp might materialize from people you meet in-person.

You might visit the Heebeegeebee camp on playa, they are filled, but great people.

You will have a great adventure. I love the intensity of world travel and the burn!
