Camp Cyberia welcoming new members

Post by Takoda13 » Wed Jul 12, 2017 7:14 am

Hello everyone!

There's a cool breeze a blown' on the playa - Cyberia! We are celebrating our fifth year on the playa - this year as a mutant vehicle camp located at 8:45 and H on a 200 x 250 ft space. We presently have 102 confirmed members from all over the world, many of them returning Cyberians. We have room for about ten more members this year. We're looking for positive, easy going people who are willing to roll-up their sleeves and contribute to the life of our camp.

Our camp follows the ten principles - we're fanatics about moop, so be ready for the daily demoop sweep each evening before our communal dinner. Our camp theme is love and care for one another. Many of us have become fast friends over the years. We have regular member meet-ups in LA, Chicago, London, and even (recently) Moscow.

Cyberia's main public space features a 30 foot steel dome with a custom fabric cover made of hexagons (illuminated at night), carpeted floor, and multi-colored fabric hangings. Here we will offer daily classes in meditation, yoga, belly dancing, and tantra. We also have a 10 x 10 coffee pagoda which serves iced Korean coffee each afternoon. The front of the camp will feature a dozen sunset-colored flags and a large entrance archway, with the eight foot across laser-cut Cyberia sign mounted above. The pathway to the dome and the communal fire pit area will be edged with wrought-iron lanterns (with electric candles) to light the way at night. In keeping with the 2017 theme, we are building a ritual shrine for Cyberians and guests to meditate.

Our main private buildings include several 36 x 40 Black Rock Hardware structures, providing almost 10,000 square feet of shade. We added two more this year so we can make a 'U' shaped structure. Two of them will cover approximately 30 tents. The other two are for our dining hall and chillax space (for couches and rugs). We are also deploying six hexayurts (built in 2016) for those without tents. We are building two kitchens, with walls to keep out the dust and enough space for shelves, storage bins, and tables for food preparation. We have a team of volunteers who make sure kitchen runs smoothly.

This year we are rolling out our art car, a spaceship named Polaris. She's built on a 3 ton military truck (!) and is undergoing final construction now. You can read about our camp here: http://www.campcyberia.org

If you're interested in joining our motley crew, please send us an email to [email protected]. Tell us about yourself, what brings you to BRC, and what you can contribute to the life of our camp. We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Takoda
