Hi

I went to Burning Man in 2004. Thinking about going again when I retire in a couple of years so I am just looking around and seeing if if it is what I remember or if time has dulled my memory.

Welcome back to Burning Man. With such a large gap in between visits to BRC, you will notice lots of changes in the event. The basic feel of Burning Man is the same, but there is a bit more structure in order to keep everyone safe.
You would clearly remember the incredible David Best Temple in 2004. You had to take ramps up into it.
There is plenty of time for you to prepare, and good luck in your retirement.

2004 was my first year. 2012 was my most recent (not counting this year). It seems very different from 04 to 12 IMHO. It's just - big. To me, in 2004 everything seemed in flux, it was a thing being created. Now it is a Known Thing and it's easier and perhaps a bit - calcified? Remember chasing the water trucks? People don't do that now (or at least I haven't seen it). We all know that the water isn't safe, there is no need for exuberant scary naked runs on the snot-slick playa catching a shockingly cold blast from a water truck. It isn't safe. It just isn't done.

Not worse, just - different. Bigger.

I'm in for a little culture shock myself - 3 years since the last time for me.

Good luck, amigo.

Hey there, welcome to ePlaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
