ISO advice on how to NOT get stuck!!

Taking my truck and a trailer this year, looking for tips/guidance on how to not get stuck? Playa conditions seem to have dried up thankfully.

Last year I saw people putting wood boards under their tires, not sure about the type of wood or thickness, looking for tips like this. Thanks in advance

The boards are to prevent the tires from scaring the playa and don't have much to do with you being/getting stuck. We don't use boards, but before leaving we move the trucks and use a rake to remove the tire marks.

If it rains, don't try and move your vehicle until the playa dries out, or you most probably will get stuck.

Anti-gravity bearings and spring coils usually do the trick.

Agree with Elderberry. You might get a heavy duty tow strap and throw it in with your supplies. On Playa or on the road, they come in handy. It's a good idea to research where to attach it to your specific vehicle.

If the playa is dry you won't get stuck.

If it rains you stay in place til it dries and you won't get stuck

Really cool that you want to be super prepared. However, even if you brought a vehicle with tank treads that'd allow you to escape the playa concrete, you're going to be stuck because everyone else and their Honda Civics, Subaru Outbacks, and Cruise America rented RVs are going to be stuck and not allowed to leave until the ground hardens again. Better to just have more drinks and food on hand to wait it out.

You might want a large screwdriver to pick off the dried mud on the tires.

For the record, I've never seen a hover tank with anti-gravity bearings stuck in wet playa. YMMV. But yes, absolutely look into spring coils.

I mentioned antigravity bearings to one of my techs and he said I may want to trade my truck in for this

Your tech is right on here. That vehicle will not get stuck in playa, so long as it is properly maintained.

edit; WAIT that is a fake hover vehicle, i see wheels. you'll still need anti-gravity bearings on it.
