Need a soldering iron on the playa??

I'll have my soldering iron and some solder available if anyone needs it! We are a trailer and a black Nissan truck (no camp) and plan to be around 3:45 and I.

I made a light up hood with uv fairy lights and they connections are quite flimsy so I decided to bring it for repairs during the week. Figured I might not be the only one who will have technical difficulties

Nope, we have a generator. Didn't know they made gas ones, good to know though!

Used to carry one in my toolcase until they found out the case can explode on leaking of the gas iron

I usually bring my soldering iron, but lately like to use IDC splicing connectors and Wago lever nuts for connecting wire up. It's great for field repairs. The splicers also provide waterproof connections because the wires are embedded in gel.

ISO-tip makes a relatively cheap, non-lithium based quick heat up soldering iron that I have and bring with me. Charges from AC, but unless you're using it a LOT you shouldn't need to charge up until you get home.

I thought everyone had gas soldering irons! They’re the way to go out in the field.

I always have my "repair kit" which includes a butane soldering iron, solder, extra wire, heat shrink tubing, electrical tape, and several other things. I've had to use it every single time I've gone.

Great to see others prepared for all cases . If you plan for the worst, it won't be that bad, right?

With this year being I,Robot, I will deff be bringing my toolkit with plenty of reparation supplies (basically electrical tape and solder lol)

Looking forward to seeing all the nifty lil gadgets on the playa this year!! We will be at 3:45 and I again this year (just a truck/trailer until we meet our awesome neighbors) n will be sporting this (esoteric?) tapestry.

Another vote here for butane soldering irons. Due to their autonomy, they're especially handy if ever you need to repair your main electrical system.

I finally broke open this Ryobi soldering iron last night and was pretty impressed. Heats up really fast, no mess, just solder anywhere.
