Hay bar peeps. Just got back from Salem, OR for the eclipse. Stayed with Unjonharley (Thanks Jon and it's on its way) Badger was also with us. 13 1/2 hours in stop-and-go traffic (without the go part) to get home. See you in the dust.

I guess I could tidy up a bit. I forget when the year's bar closes. Folks will be coming back wanting salad, and cold milk, showers and clean beds, then they'll saunter in here to start telling stories, I'm hoping. I am enjoying being bookended to some of my friends burns.

Hey peeps! Everything is unloaded, most as had its vinegar bath. Down to final washing/cleaning/detailing of gear, Truck & RMC. Laundry is done, eating left over food for the next week.

It was a good burn for me this year. Better than my Birgin last year. (and it was great too!) Had a crowd in Camp2 most of the week and always during the heat of the day. The hammocks were occupied at all times and the masses loved the Otter-Pops in the afternoons.

Fixed a number of bikes, an electrical issue on an RV, did some first aid on a huge heel blister of a campmate. Recharged all things. Provided many, 'do you have______' items. And generally made other burners week better be having what they forgot or missed. I had three year vets camping next to me that looked like birgins........

Hiya Bar Peeps! Defaultia has claimed me already as I sit here at work already on the next project. Considering BM is technically my vacation, I guess having to be right back at work the next day after getting home isn't that surprising, but I sure could use a vacation after my vacation.

This year was a good one for our camp and we had a wonderful and diverse group of folks, including campers from Florida, Napa, SFO, NYC, Reno, Tucson, SoCal, and even Shanghai! I hope many of you were able to come by the 3:00 Portal for a visit... I know I saw quite a few.

We did early arrival on Thursday with 3 hours in the Gate line, 3.5 days of setup in the hottest playa weather I can recall and then a painful breakdown Sunday that went on well into the evening with a break for the Temple Burn. Saddened by the event at the Man Burn, but to be honest, I didn't even hear about it until late on Sunday. I enjoyed the Man Burn from our elevated viewing deck with some good friends and a frosty beverage (non alcoholic of course). Stayed on thru Monday to watch the city empty a bit and departed on Tuesday morning which is usually a breeze, but due to road repairs, we were delayed about 2.5 hours.

For me, it was a week for contemplation in many ways, remembering good friends who have moved on or left us and also enjoying the company of the several virgins in our camp, seeing the wonder of the playa thru their eyes and smiles.

A lot of work, but the results are always satisfying. I hope all of you who were there this year had a great Burn! Here's to a good year in Defaultia for us all!

we ended up huddling in the shade most days. i still have the artwork for Anti M and her wayward art in my suitcase. i didn't visit anyone, too damn hot...

but it was a good burn, one of the best in a while, i thought the Man Pavilion was Really Well Done.

it was nice to see people touching his legs, especially children, the man was very accessible, and real.

i ended up muling to reno 3 times plus exodus, so i have a new love of 445-446-447

i got to see the fires when they started on tuesday night, we made it through before they closed the road.

found it interesting the most well attended musical event was the symphony at the tree.

thats a good thing.

all in all, 2017 was pretty darn nifty.

Not only did we huddle hiding from the heat, I had food poisoning on Sunday, and again Monday evening. Gah. Little mozzarella balls, I think, or the bacon. Then on Saturday morning early, Larry came down with the snot plague; I followed shortly after. Nasty stuff. I have no idea how Larry got the trailer packed Sunday. Our friends are now sick with it, poor things. While I had a blast at the Mod Meet, the Golden Cafe, and at RHPS, otherwise it was a challenging burn. Listened to the Man burn from the tent. Fernando going missing and the asshole burning all the camp trash at the plug n play across the way tinged the burn for me a great deal. I was ready to leave Thursday morning. I had been so excited and hopeful too. At least the Home had a smashing year!

Welcome back, all! . . . I wish I'd been more able to leave camp during the day, but there was the little issue of "I feel quite distinctly that if I do not sit and mist myself in front of this battery powered fan, I shall do myself an injury".

Crikey, but that burn was hot! The hottest I've ever experienced.

My fellow Mods, I count my time with you as among the best memories. Can't beat prolonged laughter with friends over mimosas.

EGAZ, NOW is time to fill out your Census. It opened the day after the event. Please go on line and tell all. Information is the most powerful tool. The 2017 Census is LIVE. Our amazing Census team did a fantastic job on playa with the random sample, and now it's time to collect participant information through our online survey.

The information we gather is critical to understanding the population and perspectives of Black Rock City. Participation in the online survey has gone down in recent years, so please help us reverse the trend!
