Lipson, a PhD who’s currently a professor of mechanical engineering at Columbia University Mechanical Engineering, has been working with a group of researchers in his Creative Machines Lab to develop a 3D printable synthetic soft muscle. Materialism can be considered a pragmatic form of enlightened self-interest based on a prudent understanding of the character of capitalist society. However, studies have found that it is also associated with self-destructive behavior and depression.

When a culture has fallen totally away from spiritual pursuits into materialism, one must begin by demonstrating they are each a soul, not a material animal.

Crowley was not impressed. The wickedest man in the world saw L. Ron Hubbard as a charlatan and a fraudster. Although Crowley was clearly a warped individual, he certainly was no fool, and history has largely confirmed that Hubbard was indeed one of the greatest fraudsters of the last century. Unfortunately for Parsons, he did not believe Crowley, and invited Hubbard into his life as his magic partner.

"Fumé" literally translates to "smoke," but this has nothing to do with a "smoky" flavor in the wine, although that is a popular notion. It instead refers to the morning fog that covers the Loire Valley and is "as thick as smoke." Any smoke-like smells or flavors in Sauvignon Blanc are from aging in toasted oak barrels and are definitely not due to any aroma or flavor character inherent in this grape variety. Although some wineries may choose oak barrel fermentation, oak aging, or both, the use of "Fumé Blanc" on a label does not require that the wine be barrel-fermented or ever contact any oak whatsoever. Fumé Blanc is simply an approved synonym for Sauvignon Blanc.

The phrase “the queen of heaven” appears in the Bible twice, both times in the book of Jeremiah. The first incident is in connection with the things the Israelites were doing that provoked the Lord to anger. Entire families were involved in idolatry. The children gathered wood, and the men used it to build altars to worship false gods. The women were engaged in kneading dough and baking cakes of bread for the “Queen of Heaven” (Jeremiah 7:18). This title referred to Ishtar, an Assyrian and Babylonian goddess also called Ashtoreth and Astarte by various other groups. She was thought to be the wife of the false god Baal, also known as Molech. The motivation of women to worship Ashtoreth stemmed from her reputation as a fertility goddess, and, as the bearing of children was greatly desired among women of that era, worship of this “queen of heaven” was rampant among pagan civilizations. Sadly, it became popular among the Israelites as well.
