I agree that politicians practice "legal" corruption.

But I don't believe it is so FUBAR we should give up, or vote third party for to protest.

Here is another way to look at it. Most voters are not paying attention. Some presidential year elections get OK turnout, but we can do better. Of the voters who vote, many are poorly informed, informed by fake news sources, vote against their own best interests, vote single issue, or protest vote.

Congress persons collect money from corporate donors to craft legislation to benefit those donors. It makes sense for corps to spend 20K, 100, a million to get 100, a million or a billion in business benefits.

Then the congress persons spend that money to get more of their uninformed voters to vote for them. It costs money to pound voters with advertising, social media and in some cases it's amplified by trolls and bots. It also costs money to convince your opponent's supporters to not vote in disgust or to vote for a third party in protest.

So if you want to end corruption inform voters you know with true information, listen to their positions even if you disagree, get them informed, and then get them to actually vote for a candidate that can win. If you are a third party supporter, start with *winning* local office then build up a stable of candidates for higher and higher office.

Things are FUBAR of course, but with a slightly different view, each of us can change that rather than just giving up.

Not voting is the worst decision of all... it says you don't care... so why the fuck should the powers that be change? Voting for the lesser of two evils is exactly what they want next to not voting at all.

Voting third party, or voting in patterns that don't fit into the left vs right scheme shows that some of us care and we see through the bullshit...

Then the Purple team will have to provide us a better and better quality of life rather than beating us into submission by taking the fruits of our prosperity away from us.
