So my husband and I did the math and it looks like the best way for us to attend (fricking finally) is to fly into SLC and rent an RV to drive to BRC and back then fly back from SLC to Florida. Has anyone ever rented an RV from Salt Lake city to go to Burning Man before? How did that go for you?

Re: Question about coming from Salt Lake City
Lots of people rent from SLC. The drive is not bad, we do it from Ogden. We take a break in WInnemucca, a nap going in, an overnight coming out just because packing and Exodus takes it out of us.
Find the Utah Burners on Facebook for more information and contacts. We tent camp, so I don't know which RV company is best, we have many. Utah is camping paradise, so be sure to get reservations in early. Even if your tickets fall through, a week in Utah is not the worst way to spend a vacation.

We're trying to hang onto our back country ... and Wendover now has a Lee's Discount Liquors outlet, so booze isn't a problem. C'mon, we aren't Idaho.Dr. Pyro wrote:No, but it's damn close.AntiM wrote: a week in Utah is not the worst way to spend a vacation.

Re: Question about coming from Salt Lake City
I too drove from Salt Lake last year. The drive is fine. Good roads all the way until you turn north off of I-80, and then nothing can help you. I would try to investigate the RV rentals first. I wanted to rent last year, but found it VERY expensive. Between Labor Day and Burning Man (the dealers are wise to the timing) it was going to be $5,000 for a mid-twenty foot RV. That's before the cleaning charge, which I guarantee you'll get tagged for. Best of luck to you.
