Hi all,
I just bought a new car with BM in mind. Got myself a 2005 ford escape hybrid. My question is, Should I take any extra precautions with a hybrid vehicle in the dust?
Looking forward to the help!
Thanks!

You may have a key that costs $200 to replace or have a copy made.
HOWEVER, you can probably have a copy made without the chip, and it will open the door mechanically. (ahh, the good old days)
Get two copies made, keep your real key in the car, never take it out.
Put one key in a baggie and put it under your tent...probably not under the tire...like putting a house key under the front door mat...
Put the other key on a lanyard around your neck.

I've put over 100 miles on my Prius out on the black rock with zero precautions. Still works fine. It's my daily driver.

What? you don't strip your engine down to the intake manifold & pull the injectors when you park in the desert for a week?Captain Goddammit wrote:You’re kidding, right?Sham wrote:Cover the carburetor and fuel injectors....
Your doing it wrong
I have a friend who took a Prius one year, didn't run it all week & had a dead battery before Exodus. The car was completely lifeless. I honestly don't know how long the battery pack in your average hybrid/electric lasts without a charge but I would think a week is not unreasonable. It was a rental so maybe it actually had an electrical problem. But that is the only "Playa Hybrid problem" I have ever heard.

Actually injectors are usually in the cylinder head, under the valve cover.
