Sam, Sam, Sam, I'm sooooo sorry. (I don't know how to emphasize my sorryness in eprint.) I love that song too. I just got to the point that all pop songs (not that I'd call Waits pop) sounded like creepy sexual mania and our boy Tom can be so dark.
Love that whole damn album pretty much. But I'm not quite sure what a lot of his songs are about.
I knew that someone pathetic had covered it, but couldn't make my brain remember who.

A spicy tart could have lots of cinnamon, or nutmeg, or cheese and jalapenos or it could be the other kind, quick witted, zest for life, and take no shit kind of tart. Irish coffe for GE.

Actually, I felt sooooooo much better when I wasn't eating. It wasn't until I put food in my stomache that I got sick... of course, it had been sitting in the refrigerator since October, when I stopped eating... maybe that had something to do with it?

Is blue a good color or a bad color for food? I forget.

Fishy-- Thanks, I wasn't really upset, just sardonic. I love Tom Waits, but, oh yeah... is he ever dark! Maybe that's what I like about him (that, and the fact that he invents his own instruments!). I heard the Waits version of that song before the Rod Stewart version and fell in love with it, and then Rod hijacked it and fucked it up... it's a beautiful song about an ugly guy; very edgy.... the Rodmeister's version is too pretty.

Then again, so is Rod...

Maybe we could sing a duet of this at the Bar on the Playa next Summer? I've got a terrible voice, and that's what this song needs.

Can we do "Graveyard Polka" too?

(yes, Tom Waits karioke night at the e-playa bar.)

Yeah, it's a dark song and darkly romantic. And he has some wonderful imagery--even if I'm too sheltered for "cuban chinese" to make much sence. I'm still wondering why the Southern Pacific is going through Minneapolis.

Oh well.

Sam, I'm no longer trusting your body's judgement. As much as i advocate listening to what your body says you should put in it, you can train it to be confused. And eating after you stop is fuckin' hard. You've probably lost some digestive prowess.

Heli, since there are no spicy tarts about, you'll have to make do with this surly one. Scoot over in that booth, would ya?

Digestive prowess... I like that. I used to say that I could eat anything and not get sick... and I've done it (don't ask)... maybe the old organic machine doesn't function like it used to? I need to go out and dig up some grubs and find out...

*grabs a garlic bagel*
pssssst. heli, what am i whispering to you? i'm really bad at this game.

more what i was thinking sam, is this: for us veg heads, going back to eating meat is hard because we've lost the proper digestive enzymes. granted, its only been, what 7 weeks that you've been starving yourself, but i wonder what enzymes are drastically reduced? it doesn't mean that you should never eat again, though. see why i have to question your current gastronomic intelligence?

It was a DEVolution courtesy of the DEVplaya. Someone suggested that it was hacked and that the hackers had our log-ins, so I paniced (clear headed ness not being one of my strongest virtues, harumff) and switched my log-in code. Never got it to work and started posting back as the BlueBird. In other words, just another silly e-playa moment, courtesy of your fishleapingtoconclusions.

>Chirp!<
Hey- I just asked if you felt lucky. I changed my password, just in case. Call me paranoid. I still cringe a little to see your old login, remembering why you need to use it.

I'm not saying I feel all responsible, just sad and frustrated.

Haven't caught up on this thread- God, you've been busy this morning. But now I've gotta go.

i'm just sayin,' 7 weeks is not 7 years. *shrug*
Sam - is it really still being useful for you? For real?

I find it's very easy to take such things over board. This coming from another crazy fasting nincompoop.

But the meat was raw... doesn't that make it easier... and it was fresh off the street, soooooooo.... ?

And don't just stop at my 'gastronimic' intelligence... there are other factors involved... like my overall intelligence... although, even when I have been considered a moron, I thought I was getting the best of it...
