Lag VS rebar on bus

Virgin burner here
This year is my first year going, coming from Europe i will be taking a plane do some lastminute shopping and hop on the burner expres.
I am going solo so space is limited, i just finished the checklist of things i need to buy before i get on the bus and only need to decide on the age old question lag screws vs rebar
Rebar :
From what i read a little bulkier
Sticks out of the ground (or youu need to make candie canes but that makes them hard to pack)
Lag screw:
Screws tem self seem less bulky
Need inpact driver ( doable but i might need to steal some strangers electricity half way)

Both are more than enough strength wise and both are possible packagewise
Are there any points i missed in my considerations

That's pretty much it. Since lag screws go straight in rather than at an angle like rebar, you can use shorter ones.

If you don't candy cane the rebar, please plan on additional space for something to cap them with (tennis balls, plastic bottles, etc) and some way to illuminate them at night. Rebar injuries suck.

Seriously, I am planing on the Burner Bus with 14 in lag bolts with a socket wrench to screw them in. I am old so no bull shit answers! I am depending on this to work. Is it?

Yes, it will work. I fly with lags (checked) and and battery powered impact wrench (checked) with two charged battery packs (carry-on). It's worth making room in your gear for this, IMO.

BTW, I also bring a socket wrench as a back-up but I've never had to use it.

My impact driver partially gave up the ghost and wouldn't "impact" much when the going got rough. The socket wrench definitely came in handy.

Still beat using rebar.

There are 2 use cases: tents and shade structures.

For tents, 10 - 12 inch galvanized gutter or landscape nails are super. Home despot has them. You can set and remove them with a claw hammer, also a home despot item.

Shade structures get into more serious anchors you question.

If you are planning on screwing lags in or out manually, I'd suggest looking into a "speed handle" rather than (or perhaps in addition to) a standard socket wrench.

If you bring an impact driver you should check that your charger will accept US voltage. We are 120V 60 cycle. I think Netherlands is 230V 50 cycle.

correct here we have 220v at 50hz so i will need to look into a extra or compatible charger for us outlets.
or i will need to buy one after landing. but that depends on the amount of space left in my suitcase wich might be lacking a bit

A simple wrench may work fine for you.

For a single person tent, four 12 inch lags and a manual socket wrench will be fine. Four 12 inch nails with washers and a claw hammer will work fine too.

I've worked a few 24 inch lags with a simple adjustable wrench. You probably wouldn't want to do more than like 10 lags without a better tool though.

I estimate that a 12 x 1/2 inch lag bolt installed with a box wrench or socket wrench would take two or three minutes. So maybe for a small set up, your impact driver would save you ten minutes and a bit of muscle. But you'd need to carry the heavy impact driver in your bag, and charger, and spend time finding electricity, and stress your expensive tool with playa dust. By contrast, a wrench costs like a dollar at the pawn shop and slips in your pocket.

In your position, I've been satisfied going with a wrench or ratchet for my bicycle and let it do double duty for a handful of lags. It was fine. This was simple, cheap, and reliable.
