Transporting Gas
Any tips on getting fuel to the playa? I’ll be renting a van but I’m pretty sure having (3) 5 gallon tanks in the back isn’t a good idea.

Why do you need 15 gallons of gas on the playa? Is this for a vehicle?BaudEByter wrote:Any tips on getting fuel to the playa? I’ll be renting a van but I’m pretty sure having (3) 5 gallon tanks in the back isn’t a good idea.
There are very specific guidelines for storing gasoline at Burning Man.

I need it for my generator. I know about the storage guidelines. I just need to know the best way to get it to the playa with a rental van.Sham wrote:Why do you need 15 gallons of gas on the playa? If you don't want the smell of gasoline in the van, you might consider renting a second van for the transportation of fuel. You could also carry the generator in the second vehicle along with item that you don't really think will absorb the smell of the gas. This will require a second driver---preferably one that doesn't smoke. You will also need a second vehicle pass.BaudEByter wrote:I need it for my generator. I know about the storage guidelines. Oh geez Sham, that is spectacular!
Get 5 gallon cans that seal real well. Look for CARB certified cans.
Federal law saiz: 440 pounds of fuel in containers not larger than 8 gallons.
It will be just like driving a 1960s VW beetle/bus.
