Burgin here, coming in 2018 for the first time.
I've read that hand-held laser pointers are forbidden. But I have one of these:

Any idea if I'm allowed to have that mounted on my bicycle, pointed downward at the playa, powered by a large battery pack? It's a class IIIa laser, in use for weddings and bar mitzvahs the world over. The dots are in constant motion, even when not in sound-activated mode. It's pretty damned hard to think of conditions that would allow someone to stare at one of the beams in a way that would cause injury.
I'm unclear on whether this sort of thing is ok, or if I'm breaking the laser policy if I bring/use it. Any tips appreciated. Thanks!
OK or not: DJ-style "dancing" bike-mounted laser?

This is from when lasers were first banned. ... As of 2015, handheld lasers are not permitted at the annual Burning Man event in Black Rock City. Mounted lasers are only permitted on art pieces, Mutant Vehicles and in theme camps if they comply with specific restrictions. Your bike can turn over and then where does your laser point?

You are absolutely not allowed to use one of those. You should take the time to read the guidelines posted on the main site since for the last couple years adherence to the event's laser policy is usually included on the event's closure order, which means that if you get busted with something you'd be looking at a citation, seizure of equipment, and/or immediate removal from the event (ouch).

Also, please note this isn’t some random trample on your fun kind of thing.
BRC is literally right next to a legit FAA Registered airport with commercial flights operations.
The penalties can be horrible if there is any kind of incident.
Just don’t bring it. Weddings and mitzvahs aren’t held on airport runways.

Yep, the event takes the laser thing seriously, especially after a Ranger had her eyesight permanently damaged by some asshat with a laser on playa. Good on ya for asking polyhedon.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I just needed a sanity check. I'll be leaving my laser projector at home.
