"Internal" Guy lines for EMT structures?
"Internal" Guy lines for EMT structures?
Any thoughts on doing "internal" guy lines for the square/rectangular EMT structures? By internal I mean guy lines from the corner going diagonal towards the pole next to it, rather than out from the edge of the structure. Possibly help prevent tripping and such.

If it’s sturdy EMT and you have reasonable spans, it is the best way to go.
Now if you do a very long shade structure, it may be good to have some extra lateral strength in the middle.
Use common sense and have enough rope to add if needed.

It's 8 or 10 foot spans, and not too enormous. I figure no matter what we'll end up with some tripping hazard since we'll need some open areas to walk in & out, but the more we can keep from tripping folks the better. The poles also have the nut welded on so we screw a bolt through to tighten down on rebar, although I'm getting so long lag bolts that the poles should fit over and will be easier to remove.
