EMT Shade Structures
Is there a reason why Black Rock Hardware does 12' (ie 10' +2') for the width of their shade structures? While I like the idea of a little extra width, I don't really feel like I need a bunch of extra joint pieces and 2' conduit pieces but wanted to make sure there wasn't some reason for them...

Could be to make use of the leftover pieces when they cut the 8' uprights out of 10' lengths of EMT

Re: EMT Shade Structures
So I haven't been able to locate 14" 3/8 lag screws for my 10x20 EMT shade structure (10' height). I bought a bunch of 12" 3/8 lags that I will run 2-3 in each foot of the poles and a 16" 1/2 lag at each of the 4 corners attached to the eyelets on the feet. Additionally there will be 8 total 16" 1/2" lags to hold the guy lines (2 at each corner from the top).
