To avoid foot problems on Playa, take care of them tootsies now.
Do it yourself with a ped-egg or get a pedicure. Your choice.
Invest in a cheap thick lotion and start slathering them puppies nightly.
Don’t fall victim to the dreaded Playa-Foot.

I just wear the same shoes I wear everywhere else.
Problems = 0.
Problems = 0.

That works in the PNW, but in my desert heat, I wear sandals all summer long.
On playa that would be a disaster.
I got what my wife calls “Hobbit Feet”.

Re: PSA: Take Care of Your Feet Now.
If I remember correctly, the issue is cracks in the heel (or other places) can hold onto dust. So sanding the cracks down helps avoid the problem.
Covering the feet is obviously safest . . . but if you can't resist occasionally padding around in flip-flops or sandals for an hour or two like Token or myself, this is worth noting.
Also worth noting is that perhaps the greatest catalyst for playa foot (aside from exposure and general degree of sensitivity) is sweat being trapped in a tight sandal or flip-flop. I often wear loose flip-flops in the morning, but the only time I ever got the beginnings of playa foot was when my sandals were tight, and the back of my toes got sweaty because of it. Noticed the same issue with using inadequately wet wipes on my shins. OW.
Experiences may vary; be careful y'all.
