Work access pass timing

So we are coming down early with WAP's with plans for a Saturday arrival. My intent is to arrive by 2-3pm on Saturday depending on the drive. Is there a cutoff time that we have to be in before they close the access for them? I just want to make sure we don't miss that and end up at Gate only to be turned around or relegated to D-Lot for hours. My camp is fully aware of our anticipated arrival time, but I also don't want to have something pop up on the drive (the one time safety comes first) and be put into purgatory.

Pretty sure they will be good anytime before gate opens.

Your WAP is good for anytime on or after the date printed on it. Gayte is open 24 hours so if you have a Saturday WAP, it's good from Saturday morning at 12:00am till the gates open.

I recall this question came up here on eplaya two or three years ago, and back then at least, it was confirmed that there was a temporary closing of the gate for a couple of hours just before the main event opening in order to reset computers, shift change, whatever. Not sure if any of this is still the case, or if it was more one of those things they say, but isn't actually enforced, but if it were me, I'd strive to get there well beforehand.

And your big worry is if you will get stuck in the gate traffic jam?

Sorry, but the post comes across real entitled.

If it was me with a WAP, and it was MY job to build a camp, I’d be at gate smack midnight as listed on the WAP.

I can reschedule shit in real life.

Otherwise, you roll the dice and see where the bones land. Maybe in D lot, maybe in Staging Lot. Suck it up.

We are pushing to be there as early as possible and my camp is aware of timing and prepared if we don't get there early on Saturday. As stated, I'm not going to risk myself, my passenger or my transportation because I need to arrive a few hours earlier. The travel aspect of this is safety first, not third. I'll save that for the playa. If we don't make it out to build, it isn't going to ruin anything with camp, but I'm offering the support I can. And no, not everything can be rescheduled. I'm already departing as earlier than initially planned to help build if it works.

I used to greet on opening shift. There were no cars admitted for a long time before gate opened. I think you need to find out from GATE.

So what’s the point?

Let’s say Gate responds and says, “yeah, we shut it down at 2pm to reboot everything for the rush”.

What then if it’s all about Safety First?

Trying to control things not in your wheelhouse is a fools erand.

Just go and have a good time of it, no matter how it unfolds.

I sat at gate for 12 hours one year when it rained. Some of my best stories from that adventure.
