Hi my first time going this year to burning man, I was wondering if anyone else had a situation where your boyfriend/girlfriend broke up with you for going to burning man.

Have to ask others about boyfriend/girlfriend but there has been more than one divorce in my small circle of Burner friends because of The Project. Ultimatums and all.

Happens all the time. My first husband wouldn't stop hitting the brim of my hat and knocking it down over my eyes. When he got out of the car, (at the campsite in Mammoth), I drove home to L.A. Anything can trigger a breakup but it's not the real cause.




I called his girlfriend and told her where I left him. They came home 2 weeks later.

If you choose to find a life partner (or even a temporary lover), make sure it is one that will support you in having your own adventures, finding your own ways to grow, and choosing your own path. Anything less eventually leads to resentment and regret - and the longer it takes you to work out that your life is yours and insist on it, the more opportunities you miss that you may never see again.

If this guy has even hinted at a breakup if you go, then he's just failed the test. It's up to you whether you keep him in your life in any capacity, but whatever you do, don't give in. Go anyway. If he can't cope with that, he's not worth worrying about.
