Earlier today my friend and I were at Distrikt (~5pm) and were off our bikes no more than 10 mins to find out someone took my friend’s bike!!!
F-U to whoever took my friend’s burgundy K-2 bike!!! It has blue & green led lights, wood basket, and led for the spokes- I know, sounds like every bike out there...
WE EVEN GAVE AN ANGEL TICKET AWAY!!!!
What crappy karma... this is my first BM too!

Was it locked?

It happens out there, especially at the big raves.
Think about it.
Odds are someone whose partying a bit too hard just grabbed the first unlocked bike cuz the grove was better at some other spot.
Them parties usually ain’t about good choices after all.
Might be a good idea to start locking your remaining bike.
Hey, you’re at Burning Man! Have some off the charts fun!

The first year my bike, along with those of two of my friends, were stolen from the same spot because we forgot to lock the bikes up. I still have the key from the lock that was still on the bike when it was stolen.
Never again.
Karma is what powerless people hope for only after they get exploited. Better than karma is to lock your bike up.
Lock it up in your camp. Lock it up when you go piss. Lock it up right after you've unloaded it from your vehicle (friend's bike got stolen the night he arrived on the very first night before camp was even rally set up). Lock the bike up so you don't have to worry about it when you go to Distrikt on August 30th.
I think every single year I've gone, I've known someone personally attending in my camp that year who has had his or her bike stolen.
It was nearly all I could do to stop from rolling my eyes when he exclaimed "I can't believe my bike got stolen. All the other unlocked bikes in the camp weren't stolen."
Yeah, well... whatever. Should've locked that bike up.

Mod note: Moved to Stories as it is a better fit.
Sorry about the theft, but always lock up.

2015 - group of young guys camped next to us had a bike stolen from Center Camp. He was crushed - required a hug and a glass of wine.
It was wonderful watching them spend the afternoon jerry rigging some standing pedals on one of their other bikes so stolen dude could come along for the ride.
It didn't last very long and looked like a jolly uncomfortable ride but I applauded their effort to overcome.

My bike got stolen out of camp, yeah I hadn’t locked it. Pissed. But apparently the Yellow Bike camp found it, but I gotta go to the playa to pick it up
