Re: Donald Trump is my hero
Perhaps this has been covered, but if not:
The Trump organization is corrupt. It has a consistent pattern of bailouts and deals in the hotel business with the Russians and Saudis (who else?) The Kushners are also in bed with the Saudis (and who else?) Who knows what corruption is going on with Ivanka beyond what's been reported on China?
Jared's dad (look up the career of Charles Kushner*) made a bad investment in 2007 buying 666 Fifth Avenue (you cannot make this up!) for $1.8B. The bad deal has had many twists and turns - https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2017 ... -for-cash/.
Finally, the Saudis were involved in a buyout this year of the building. But the 666 curse continues.

This would be great material for new creative cartoons.
*In the summer of 2004, Kushner was fined $508,900 by the Federal Election Commission for contributing to Democratic political campaigns in the names of his partnerships when he lacked authorization to do so. In 2005, following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, U.S. Attorney Chris Christie negotiated a plea agreement with him, under which he pleaded guilty to 18 counts of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering. The witness-tampering charge arose from Kushner's act of retaliation against William Schulder, his sister Esther's husband, who was cooperating with federal investigators; Kushner hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, arranged to record an encounter between the two, and had the tape sent to his sister.

Muller devotional candle
There are Ruth Bader Ginsburg devotional candles out there too, long may she live!
Even Michelle Obama and Christine Blasey Ford have candles, and I'm sure many more! If burning them helps protect them, I'm in.

Him resigning would be the same as him admitting guilt. Not to mention if he resigns, who will pardon his family?

Re: Donald Trump is my hero
NYT 12/22/2018 - The portrait that emerges from interviews with about 30 current and former administration officials, personal friends, political allies, lawmakers and congressional aides:
Always impulsive, the president increasingly believes he does not need advisers, according to people close to him.
...
Mr. Mattis was the last of the so-called axis of adults seen by some as tempering a volatile president, following the ouster of Rex W. Tillerson as secretary of state, H. R. McMaster as national security adviser and John F. Kelly as chief of staff.
...
In a recent public talk, Mr. Tillerson said out loud what others say in private, that Mr. Trump often pushes for actions that exceed his authority and does not like it when told he cannot do something. He bristles at constraints and expresses envy of autocrats like President Xi Jinping of China who do not have to deal with independent power centers like the Federal Reserve or the courts.
...
In recent days, Mr. Trump has asked aides whether he can fire Jerome H. Powell, the Fed chairman he appointed, telling advisers that Mr. Powell will “turn me into Hoover,” a reference to the Great Depression-era president. During a meeting with German car executives this month, Mr. Trump threatened to impose higher fuel efficiency standards on their imported cars than required on American vehicles even though aides told him he could not do that.
And he can be hard on his staff. He regularly curses at them, some say. Even his humor can be abrasive. When Larry Kudlow, his economics adviser, returned after a heart attack this year, the president ribbed him in front of aides. “Larry, you’re here six weeks and you had a heart attack?” Others laughed uncomfortably.
...
Longtime associates said Mr. Trump’s relationship with his children has grown more removed and that he feels he does not have a friend in the White House. He disagrees with Mr. Kushner and Ivanka Trump much of the time, but cannot bring himself to tell them no, leaving that instead to Mr. Kelly, according to former aides. That made Mr. Kelly the heavy, they said, and therefore the target of their ire until he was finally forced out.
Mr. Trump has spent far less time lately with older friends. The sense of isolation was on display at this month’s holiday parties when he appeared for a few minutes, took a few perfunctory photographs with preselected guests and then disappeared back upstairs rather than mingle. He spent part of this preholiday shutdown weekend alone until Melania could return from Florida.
Mr. Trump still views the presidency through the lens of a television showman. He told his staff that he wanted a fireworks display over Mount Rushmore. Before signing the farm bill, he posted a goofy video of himself at the 2005 Emmy Awards dressed in overalls and a straw hat, holding a pitchfork and singing the theme song to the old television show “Green Acres.”
...
For election night in November, he insisted on throwing a lavish party in the East Room and originally wanted aides to be on display for his guests, a simulation of officials gathering election return information like aides did at Trump Tower in 2016. When White House officials warned that a party would look discordant given the likelihood of losing the House, he insisted on going forward anyway.
...
By all accounts, Mr. Trump’s consumption of cable television has actually increased in recent months as his first scheduled meetings of the day have slid back from the 9 or 9:30 a.m. set by Reince Priebus, his first chief of staff, to roughly 11 many mornings. During “executive time,” Mr. Trump watches television in the residence for hours, reacting to what he sees on Fox News. While in the West Wing, he leaves it on during most meetings in the dining room off the Oval Office, one ear attuned to what is being said.
...
More recently, Mr. Trump has taken to spending time reminiscing about the happier days of his candidacy and his 2016 victory. He spent the fall showing different groups of visitors what he calls his love letters from North Korea’s iron-fisted dictator, Kim Jong-un, expressing admiration for Mr. Trump. And he still takes joy in aspects of the job, primarily those that demonstrate power. “The roads closed for me!” he declared to friends this year after a motorcade ride.

Everyone is so politically fucked up that they're segregating themselves in the name of equal rights and liberation.

“56-year-old Dr. Elysa Braunstein tells the Times that her late father implied that Trump did not suffer from a debilitating foot ailment, and that he offered the bogus diagnosis as a favor to Trump patriarch Fred Trump.”
“I know it was a favor,” explains Elysa Braunstein, whose account was also corroborated by her sister, Sharon Kessel. “What he got was access to Fred Trump. If there was anything wrong in the building, my dad would call and Trump would take care of it immediately. That was the small favor that he got.”

I don't hate Trump. The federal government is pretty high up on the list of things I have no control over that I try not to worry about. 2018 I made a big effort to consume less news, it's really helped out with my anxiety and overall stress levels.
Since we're talking politics, any other voluntaryists/ancaps on here and also into burning man? There has to be like at least half a dozen of us in the entire world
Might go to porcfest this year, we'll see. (That's like burning man for libertarians kinda)

Because I'm not a progressive/liberal/whatever, and we might be a minority but we do exist both here on eplaya and out at the actual burn. Some reddits about my ideology if you're interested. ancap voluntarism
Do I dislike one party more than the other? Not really, that's like asking me which turd stinks less. I'd rather not smell either!
Anarchist ideologies go well to a certain extent with the culture of burning man imo. radical self reliance and all that jazz. Not perfectly, but there is some overlap is all I'm saying.
