Virgin Art Project
This is a note to regionals and camp organizers to let you know that there will be an activity designed for your Virgins to participate in this year. The idea is to hold an activity on one day where they might walk away with a feeling of personal investment and participation in the project. We intend to have a gathering where we round up as many virgins as desire to participate, have them make some art, parade them around the town, and present a represntative piece of art to the city on behalf of all the Virgins.
What I am asking of you is to make your virgins aware that there will be an activity just for them. It would be cool if they could make a small piece of art before the event and bring it with them. It should be small and cheesy. The cheesier the better. It should be small enough for them to carry with them in parade comfortable. Something made of popsicle sticks and glue would be about right. By making their art at home and bringing it with them, we can have more materials and get done with the building process quicker for those who were not aware of the project and decide to participate on the spot.
Anyone wishing to help in this activity is welcome to join the "Temple of Vesta" tribe on tribe.net or you can view it at http://virginparade.tribe.net
Remember, Virgins are LUCKY! To see one smile will bring good luck! Hug a Virgin and you will receive a hundred in return!

Mutant Vehicle
May I volunteer our Mutant Vehicle from the International Burner Hostel camp to pick up all the Virgins we can for the parade? Maybe other MV's can be enlisted. How 'bout you, Captain Goddamnit? Do you think it will be like a huge spanking machine?

Re: Mutant Vehicle
Sounds like a great idea. I will be getting things better organized after the first of the year. What propted me to start this thread now was the part in the latest Jackrabbit Speaks about newcomer acculturization or something like that. I wanted to get this out there so that we don't dillute or duplicate each other's efforts. I think newcomers that get a sense of personal investment of the project will help everyone have a better experiance for years to come.Mister Jellyfish Mister wrote:May I volunteer our Mutant Vehicle from the International Burner Hostel camp to pick up all the Virgins we can for the parade? This would be a great message for JRS to put out - if enough people start repeating this mantra, it might make a difference...geekster wrote:Remember, Virgins are LUCKY! To see one smile will bring good luck! Hug a Virgin and you will receive a hundred in return!!

Re: Virgin Art Project
You are so completely awesome and have been there since the beginning, you and Rob both and the other members of the tribe too.GuinivereElise wrote: Geekie, I'm just letting you know again that I'm TOTALLY UP for virgin wrangling...
I sent the org a little note as part of their feedback thing to kind of let them know what we have in mind. I thought we might want to let them know if we were going to do anything that might involve a (hopefully) crowd of people.
At this point we just want to make some cheesy art and walk them around to show it off and then send them on their way. An art burn on Friday night would be a nice way to have to keep from hauling all that stuff back and give them their own special burn.
No big ceremony or anything is planned, though it is possible something might happen during the event. If something bubbles up from the participants that is kinda cool, it might get carried over into future years. I would rather see anything of that nature come from the virgins themselves rather than the other way around.

No, nothing over there. I have been quiet through the holidays. It will pick up over there after the first.GuinivereElise wrote:I think that's perfect. That way, anything more that comes of it will be entirely organic (i typed "orgasmic" by accident, first... what am I thinking about?!) and not forced. Start small...
has there been much going on over on Tribe?? I haven't been there in a while...

I we have enough virgins, I would like to have one little cool thing in the parade ... about halfway through, we would have a space of maybe 50 feet. When the space gets to an intersection, someone would hold up a sign that says "Potty break!" so that people might be able to dash across to get to/from the pots. Just an idea I got while seeing someone doing the peepee dance during critical tits.

Ohh, I like your idea of the line of virgins with arms held high. Wonder if we should do it after the parade or before the art. What I was wondering was ... hey, if you are going to be a virgin, you better be prepared to make some art.GuinivereElise wrote:I LOVE the idea of the revirginifier...
It could be something as simple as an archway, or even just two lines of virgins at the end of the parade with their hands held to create a long line of arches that anyone who wanted to revirginify could walk through...

What a great way for us to banish our expectations! That idea, my dear, is touching.GuinivereElise wrote:I LOVE the idea of the revirginifier...

When do you start colecting materials and what might you want?
I have lots of costume jewelry. Odd doll dishes (plastic) and the like. felt and other cloth. Thinking of upgrading to a full size glue gun--which means both my minis (one hot and one warm) will be available for use. I may also want to use them for projects at eplaya camp, but I'm thinking of the wire only which doesn't need them. Beads. Buttons? Pieces of wood. Some fancy paper--but I've been shedding that. Old calenders, ditto. Some silk flowers. Probably much more, but i'm working off top of my head. I am looking to shed stuff (white elephanted my chalk pastels!) so there's a good chance of my having stuff, but I do want it GONE and not cluttering up my life. Plus, I love to scrounge--although I'm short on time.

Ok, now your getting a bit too close to our APOKILIPTIK visions here...
it even sacres me!
I'd feel better if we got back to our re-virginator thing.
It would be cool to build one... a sort of booth or tunnel in which the willing fool could be subjected to various tests- like those of Hurcules-- that would lead to purification.
Or... did someone already suggest this?

In the original iteration of the Revirginator from Julian on the Burning Man tribe it was a thing that people would walk through and I have no problems if someone wants to build such a thing but I am trying to keep the overhead light so am not making it a REQUIREMENT. What we have so far in the Temple of Vesta tribe is the what GE has described after the parade. She has a stamp to apply to them. (make sure it will come off before they have to go back to workKernul Killbuck wrote: Or... did someone already suggest this?

A bell that we could ring, not unlike the bell at the front gate might be nice and a spanking wouldn't hurt ... too much.

Low overhead
Ok, a low overhead idea-
A sort of gauntlet... like the Iroquois- made up of people in parallel rows- the person passes through the Gauntlet of Re-Virgination... each person in the gauntlet, touching or passing over the person with something that is meaningful, or gifts them with a little something that does a bit of purification.
This way, overhead is zip, and all participate more fully. Thoughts?

That is pretty much what GE suggested. A gauntlet of virgins. Actually, I have no problem with camps that might want to have "revirgination stations" scattered around the playa.
Cut through that unsightly expectation buildup!
Step right up and chip away the jade!
They step through the revirgination station and are handed a dried cherry.
I also suggest that a bowl of dried cherries be placed in each camp on Sunday morning to celebrate the "de-flowering" of another crop of Virgins and be offered to any camp visitors.
