Fog can do some of the same thing--utterly transform the landscape, silence the noise remake the world magically.gigglesnort wrote:Oh my gawd! hiya everybody! I LOVE SNOW! IT SNOWED!!!
I let my girls out to play at nighttime in the city when we finally made it home-no problem! A vast white safety blanket covers everywhere, forcing everyone to STOP! BE STILL! STOP DRIVING! Everything and everybody just turned on its head.
BTW it does occasionally drop a few inches on the local hills, so geekster should be ready to interrupt his day and drive the kids to the local snow in whatever year it does this. My parents didn't have a car when I was growing up, so I missed the few times it did snow on the Berkeley Hills.

Geekster.... try Long Barn, above Sonora. I used to live there and it was a blast. We'd sit in the local bar until closing time and then ride the "Toboggan of Death" down an icy slope in the dark, falling down drunk, trying to avoid the tree stumps that we couldn't see, on a vehicle that couldn't be steered.
Try that with your kids... they'll love ya' for it...

I suggest that you skip the "falling down drunk" part. CPS might get a llittle huffy.samtzu wrote:Geekster.... try Long Barn, above Sonora. I used to live there and it was a blast. wow stu... you HAVE to let me see it... really, this isn't just the alcohol talking...
I've known about The Old Turtle for a year now... my ex-roomie and I read it in a book store last xmas... I hinted at my mommy to get it for me, but she only bought a copy for HER...
now I have my own. Giggle, you would LOVE this book. Really. It makes me cry. It's by Douglas Wood, with beautiful watercolors by Jon Muth.
My mommy gets me a children's picture book every year, for xmas. She celebrates, I don't, but she still gets me presents, and who am I to say 'no'? So I have wonderful children's books all over the place... 24 of them... at least....

oh, it's true. no hangover... I'm still fucking drunk for peet's sake (mmm, coffee)
and, Stuart, even if I DID have a hangover, I wouldn't tell you, because you'd call me a rookie....
You'll all be pleased to know that I'm home, ready to head to bed shortly... I talked to the gents I was spending time with last night, and they assured me that I did NOT make an ass of myself. I'll have to try harder, I guess. The last thing I remember is doing body shots of tequila, (apparently with an audience)...
a fine night, ta be sure!
okay... bed. sleepy. I'll talk to you folks later...
