What about the kareoke? Any ideas for that? We need one for the bar!
'm listening all kinds of 80's music today on winamp and it's got me itching to sing! So far some appropriate ones I've heard today: Heaven is a place on earth, like a virgin, welcome to the pleasuredome, you spin me right round baby. I guess it wouldn't be good to rent one because not doubt it would get dirty. But maybe someone has one or can rig up their laptop?

The Freud Punching Bag led me to how much fun it would be to have a daily brain pinata gifting event. (You know, smash the pinata--in the shape of the brain--release the gifts.) IF pinatas weren't the essence of MOOP. But smash and grab really does let out some primal human essence. Or fulfill the capitalist dream--depending on your frame of reference.

karaoke
I've actually been thinking of doing a karaoke like project on my own. To keep it simple and playa-proof (ok, nothing is playa proof, but a little dust resistant is good) I'm thinking of just putting some sort of amp, speakers, and microphone on a wagon with some deep cycle batteries (this may be technically non-practical) and hauling it around the esplanade. Go up to people at random and stick a microphone in their face and ask them to sing something for the playa, a capella. Everybody's got *some* song they know at least pretty well, even if it's just Happy Birthday. And the occasional "uhhh dumm de dumm" would be part of the charm.
Possibly include a feed for an mp3 player (no moving parts) or cheap-ass cd player, but not try too hard to get de-vocal-ed karaoke tracks - just sing along and try to drown out the orig, but I'm thinking simple.
I saw someone on the playa with a rig like this but with a real karaoke machine and they seemed to spend their whole time trying to decide which song to do and struggling to see the words on the little screen. I'm thinking simple.

my sister gave us a karaoke machine and a bunch of the disks too, i could dupe what i have for you ifn' ya want...it's pretty hard to sing along to the one fingered midi monkey that seems to play all of the songs tho, even if you know it, it sounds soooo diferent! and there's no vocal on there at all, so you kind of have to know your shit to come in at the right times and all of that, even with the stupid words on the screen.
here's the thing tho, if you decide to go the not so simple route, there are outs on the thing that would let you hook it up to a larger screen and a better stereo system (it's just a glorified boom box) and that would also allow you to contain it in a dust free box or something. i would be willing to bring it if we could at least try to keep the dust out of it most of the time...

You might find this interesting.Rob the Wop wrote: No government has lasted the test of time. And they don't elect people in a tyranny, last time I checked. If a government is taken over, and elections become a sham- what will you do? Are you trying to tell me that in this day and age, governments aren't taken over? Or look through past history and say we won't make those mistakes anymore?

Okay for interactivity.
I could make a fortune telling board (the plans have been dwelling in my mind for a year or so.)
We tell their fortune or not. They have to use the apparatus to tell a fortune before getting a drink or a second drink or however we decide it's appropriate.

Yeah, drinking games!
Hey, there are a gazillion drinking games out there.
You must take one drink if...
...someone sees a Playa Papa,
...someone on stilts go by
...any mention of porta-potties
...a tourist couple
...any mention of the Real Whirld
...a reference to the "theme"
...someone says the word "penis"
The list can be generated as needed.
Or we can lift games from http://www.barmeister.com/cgi-bin/game. ... ype=Verbal

Depending on availablity and interest, I will be bringing meyer's lemons to the bar for use. So consider that when you decide upon the alcomenu.

I am hereby making the suggestion that by March 1st we have an idea as to what the hell is going on with this camp. If you are in make it known. If you are not make that known as well.
If there is any doubt as to whether you intend to attend BM 05 then it's time to state as fact that that is a possibility. This camp needs to happen and if anyone is spinning their wheels it's time to get up off it and for those who are serious to step up.
What do you say?
