Getting married on the Playa
[*] I’ve heard rumours that Getting Married on the Playa requires permission from Burning Man. I have emailed [email protected] to no avail, and also taken the steps to have my celebrant registered with Universal Life Church to legally conduct the ceremony. I realise permission from the local court house to write up the papers for the wedding is required, but does anyone know if permission is required to hold our ceremony on the Playa? Or is that just a rumour?

You don't need permission from the BMOrg.
If you want it to count, legally, you'll need a Nevada approved officiant and some local (pre-playa) paperwork.

Good Question and good answers!
I'm Rev Racks, last burn was with Dept of Wedding Planning and will be again this year, I just don't think it's up and running "YET".
All that's needed to get legally or otherwise married, bound, tied, on the Playa is your love. No BRC permission is needed unless it's something that closes a area or effects the BRC community. BRC is open to all the participating community as should be all events.
I am a license NV state Wedding Officiant and can tell you that some counties, including Clark County (Vegas), doesn't recognize Universal Life Church so what I personally did was an online ordained by American Marriage Ministries which is widely recognized. You'll have to get your official permits from Pershing County.
Enjoy your celebration and feel free to contact me direct if I can be of assistance.

Re: Getting married on the Playa
My fiancé and I are travelling from Australia to be married on the playa with a small group of friends this year! We are hoping to find someone who will gift us an official and legal ceremony
We are also interested in joining a theme camp if those two things go hand in hand. We are artists, creatives and “doofers” from the Aussie festival scene and are all so excited to travel to Black Rock City! I understand we need to grab a marriage license before arriving at Burning Man and I was hoping to do this in Reno - is this the right place to get it?
Many thanks in advance!

Hi Kelsiemt welcome and congratulations!
Stop over at the Greeters Station and tell us a little more about yourself and why you are coming to Burning Man (other than to get married
).
Check out https://burningman.org/event/preparatio ... /weddings/ also posted at the beginning of this thread. You will find all the information you need to get married on playa as well as an email address in case you can't understand everything printed there.

Everyone is so politically fucked up that they're segregating themselves in the name of equal rights and liberation.
