Hey there,

I'm the co-lead of camp IDEATE, and we're a social impact camp seeking to make the world work for 100% of humanity. We run a large composting program for the Burning Man community. You can find more about us here: Ideate.org

Let me get this straight, there’s photos of 49 of you on your website and you’re looking for someone to come on in and build them cozy digs for you?

That must have been a super radical Ideation someone came up with.

Or is the bourgeoisie simply lookin for their proletariat?

Are these positions rewarded in some way? Pay, tickets? Meal Plan? Fluffers?

In this day and age of BM culture retooling, your methods and post sure have dreadful optics.

Sorry OP, but you've got to admit that there's something absolutely hilarious about the idea of a camp chock-full of "purpose-driven entrepreneurs, creatives, and amazing humans", who seek to inspire people how to make "the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time" ... actually being unable to put up their own tents and support infrastructure!

That's absolutely priceless!


Now, joking aside (and I do hope that you can appreciate the genuine humor in your situation), I wish you the best of luck, and hope to be able to visit you on-playa this year.

I look forward to a rousing discussion on your proposal of buying Carbon Offsets to offset the carbon footprint of folks driving/flying into BRC and partying.

Hi Ideate. I couldn't help but notice that you are using the Burning Man graphics from their site as if it is your own. That's not cool. Are you part of the Borg? If not, you shouldn't be using their art work on your application page. It gives the impression of officialdom. And yes, I already sent them an email with a link to your page. The communications dept loves this stuff.

Oh...And linking to Burnersdotme is just plain stupid.

Also, why are you featuring P&Ps in your link. Does your camp have a douche bar?

Are build leads different than builders? I can see that if they've lost their organizers for that chore. The application (I ran a dummy one) does specify that everyone is expected to be on the strike team to some degree. They do delve into interests, skills, and abilities extensively. I asked the mod team to have a look, to be sure the post is not outside eplaya guidelines. With a preliminary look, they seem to be working within our rules.

But yes, using the .org art is rather uncool. That's something for them and the Org to discuss.
