Yeah, I feel like I've been kicked in the nuts this last week, but I refuse to give in or give up... I've got a defective 'fight/flight' mechanism: I always fight, even if I know I'm going to get my ass kicked. *sigh*GuinivereElise wrote:lovely way to look at it, Sam. As always.
I can't wait to see your pictures!!
The pictures look good (I think, I've only looked at them once) so I'll post them at the usual place... and provide the link here and on the "Lower Level Review" page...

Hey, can we talk a minute over this whiskey about how we feel about getting email holiday cards?
At first I resented them, but as my office wastepaper basket filled up with cards from people I don't know or care about, the digital ones began to make a lot more sense, particularly from an ecological POV.

sure, BHA....
I'm the same way... as far as cards I'd rather get... the ecards do the job. that way, I don't have to be a part of the waste problem. Still, nothing quite equals snail mail, really. getting a card in the actual mail from my mommy is nice.... anything other than bills is nice, really.
I would feel better if they were actually written in with some thought, but everyone is in such a rush now that most of the time, they just sign and stamp.
I'm torn, really...
that, and I have really great memories of these cute little boxes and ornaments my gram used to make to reuse the beautiful cards... precious.

Thanks for the eggnog, Duke... much appreciated. Congrats on 100...
BHA... I prefer ecards, although it appears that only silly ones get sent to me... dancing reindeer and farting cats (don't ask)... but I have received eletters from friends that have photos attached and warm messages. Those work much better for me.

Hey! It just dawned on me... I've been in a worse place than this before in my life. In '96 I had lost my job, lost my car, lived in a trailer in the middle of a field with no electricity and 'pasturized' (it ran through a pasture) water, and I was happy as a clam. In fact, I don't think I had ever been happier in my life before, or since... I actually went a week without food because I literally had no money... and still, I was filled with Joy.
If this is the time of year for reflection (it is, trust me) then this is what I'm reflecting on: I've had a hard, but good, life, and I don't think I would have it any other way. I am learning lessons that are creating, deep, deep inside of me, a much better person than I used to be. I like the new me a hell of a lot more than the old me...
How about another eggnog?

Well aw-right, Lampie!
As I type we are passing the Michter's whiskey around the office. This shit is smooth, pimp-Cadillac smooth.
Note to Lydia Love: a friend of mine just walked out of here with a gift-wrapped BB gun to give his 84-year-old father for Christmas. Why? The old fucka wants to shoot some squirrels.
Yeah boy!

They've been the only ones I've sent the last couple of years; I'd reached a point where I was spending $20 on postage, because I couldn't bear the thought of leaving anyone out....buckethead alien wrote:Hey, can we talk a minute over this whiskey about how we feel about getting email holiday cards?

It's one of my favorites! Good for housecleaning and baking. An old standby........ my crazy friend Leslie declared it the Christmas Outfit today. I can see me, a crusty old woman whipping out the crusty old highschool uniform, three sequins left.......
"Oh gawd, grandma's putting on her stupid old uniform again......I just hope she doesn't break out the purple thong like last year. Ewww, grandma!"

"So, unless you have torn your clothes off in a rage and run naked across a frozen tundra, then found yourself miles from where you started with no memory of how you got there, it is safe to say that you have not experienced a _pibloktog_ state. If so, then you have."

I once woke up naked miles from where I started with no memory of how I got there, not sure I was in a rage, though. Well, something might have been raging there for a while. I had to figure out where I was, where my car was, what her name was ... it was kinda embarrassing. Is that this publicdog thing you speak of?
