Solar generator question.

Post by nickbritby » Thu Aug 15, 2019 6:59 pm

I'd like to make a swamp cooler.

People usually use 100 Amp-Hr Battery (12v). But I found Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 160.

Do you know Jackery is good for a swamp cooler?

Thanks

It has a 10Ah battery so it would work for a few hours then you must recharge.

With the 50W solar it could work during the day and stay charged.

It's pretty small for that price. 50 amp hour battery would be notably cheaper. Pm me if you want details on how to rig it up

We use the Jackery 160 power generator in our backpacking trips. This is a good item when you want to hike/camp in the mountains. For paper writing service it's much nicer then carrying multiple power banks but for the Playa I'd definitely get something bigger.

That Jackery is expensive and small. Just a quick look on the internet you can get a 100AH deep cycle battery for about $125 and a Coleman 100 watt panel with charge controller for about $150. I built 3 of these for the 2019 Burn and they kept tents cool and all the things charged for a week.
