well damn. I'll have some bourbon too.
At least I think I may have honor of starting the most depressing eplaya thread ever.
More bourbon please.

Ha, that may be your best ever, FJ! well done!
It's funny, because it's so true.
yeah, we got about an inch of hail/snow yesterday, sorta unexpected.
It seems the Trash Pandas were at my front door! Lurking I'm sure with nefarious intent. *heads to ROS*

Well, thank you & hello, Burner Von Braun! I am in a high COVID area, but am lucky enough to have a job that--with a few changes--allows me to work from home, so I have been a homebody for the last two weeks . . .burner von braun wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 5:13 amHi Savannah!
With all the hubbub, I almost missed seeing you! How are things going so far where you are?
My boss (a prominent academic in his field) has asked his fellow physicians & staff to work from home for the 6-8 weeks, based on projections. It's unnerving when the smartest people I know are nervous. I don't care for it much.
So, uh . . . how YOU doin'?

Damn that song takes me back to jr. high school...good times
Oh my god, it's HUGE!
Re: Re: The 2025 Burning Man Bar is open
Pot smoke, burning rubber. Went to a party, opened the door as the tail end of Pink Floyd " Welcome to the machine" played. Yeah, just too cool. Oops, showing my age. Doesn't matter, already posted.
Re: Re: The 2025 Burning Man Bar is open
Haha!
. . . But that song is cool, though . . . soooo.
The first time I heard Pink Floyd was actually on the playa. It was "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" . . .
It was two o'clock in the morning, people were first starting to get tired, maybe a dozen people sitting in camp chairs in the dark just chillin', and someone played it, on an impeccable sound system. The first part will always be my favorite, so atmospheric; sounding like the surface of the fucking moon, you know.
And it was so beautiful, of course. The perfect place to hear that song for the first time. I said incredulously, "What IS that?" . . . 'cause I'm not of a tender age anymore, but it was before my time; was the sort of thing I would've heard only from an older brother (which I lacked entirely) or a teen mom (same).
And the guy who played it said "Are you kidding?"
" . . . No."

Listening to Pink Floyd "Pigs" with a woman you thought was your soul mate. Cruising on a sailboat, on an evening with a full moon lighting up the ocean. "Priceless." Going too see Pink Floyd live with your retarded Vermont Woodchuck buddies tripping balls at Madison Square Garden??? "Not so Much."

Glad you're able to work from home Savannah. A lot of that happening these days.
Doing OK, but still adjusting here. Thanks for asking. Like everyone I suppose, I have moments when I'm pretty concerned, not just for my own welfare, but the big picture too. Then other moments when I seek out more comforting thoughts, in an effort to create a sense of normalcy. I keep updated via reliable websites and sources. Mostly just taking it a day at a time and riding it out. Ruled out the trip to Nevada quite some time ago for this year. BMorg certainly has found themselves in a tough spot regarding tickets though it seems. No easy solutions to be found there. I wish them luck sorting that out.

HI BVB!
Glad you're working through it all. Some are not faring so well. We gotta help each other, IMHO, people to people.
Yeah, the ORG may well be in a tight spot. No firm decisions as of yet, as far as I know.
We're making operational plans, as though it's happening, though. Trying to anticipate modifications necessary, depending on circumstances.
I'm glad we have this bar, to just come, and visit, chat about light hearted stuff, leaving the politics and virus and all the stresses at the door.

Hi BVB! Cc!, "and all the ships at sea"!!!!
Pretty cool seeing "people helping people" more and more. Gives one hope.
Been doing a lot of stuff around the compound here. Funny, it's almost energized me, being told not to go places and see people. Maybe it's a coping mechanism? Being productive, because there's nothing else to do?
For the most part, the stay home orders have not changed life for me, much. But business has slowed some. My business is low volume anyway, so not a huge change but noticeable.
I hope everyone here is doing ok. If anyone needs help, or sees someone who needs help, sing out! Folks care, but if no one knows, it's tough to be a helper.
How about a Saturday morning cartoon?

(CLARK grabs another cup of cafē) I hear ya BVB, YGMIR.. been seeing the silver linings in it all & under the conditions { I am naturally optimistic//easily entertained
} .Been taking this time to slow it down and to think, feel, aspire on the inside. To that degree, it has been quite peaceful, soothing and therapeutic~
Enjoy the small details.

I can't wait for the anxiety and malaise of the zeitgeist to die down a little, so I can become the monster-runner I use to be.
My fastest adult time for a mile was 6:57!
. . . Years ago.
I cannot presently do that, to say the least.
I thought that the very second I was able to work from home . . . I would just turn into an organizational maven and a Daily Workout Warrior, but it's only been the case for the last week (very, very slightly). Meaning: I've been walking for 60 to 90 minutes down the middle of the road, several times during the last week. But for the first couple of weeks at home I was just . . . freaked out, discombobulated, and sluggish.
And the very smartest people I know (from my tangential relation to big-brain, medical, professional types) . . . are scared too. It's a good reminder to respect this virus, but also not to feel alone.
It's really been an adjustment.
*raises a glass*

A real man is the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says Oh Crap, he's up! Brother, life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat u right. Forgive the ones who don't just because you can. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Take a few minutes to think before u act when you're mad . Forgive quickly. God never said life would be easy . He just promised it would be worth it. Today is Brother's day, send this to all your brothers, fathers, sons and me if I am one. Happy brothers Day! I LOVE YA BROTHER!!! To the cool men that have touched my life. Here's to you!! A real Brother walks with u when the rest of the world walks on you. Send to all ur Brothers. For you Big Bro.Salute!!!

Sorry we haven't gotten to share a Perimeter shift, yet.. yet, meaning I hope we still will!
We might think about reaching out to those who may be suffering more during this isolation. Those alone and perhaps at risk. I hope some folks will stop in here, for a chat and well wishes!

Wow, no ones been around much. *notes no track or prints in dust*
I've been laying low as much as possible, trying not to be a "covidiot". Even wore a mask and gloves to the grocery store! Mostly, to make others feel safe. I know most masks don't protect the wearer much (other than read N95's or the like), but, they help keep any germs you have, with you (like surgical masks, etc), which I'd hope, helps those more vulnerable feel better. It's interesting to see so many people wearing masks, and all the fun things they've done with them.
Maybe a Saturday Morning cartoon?
