“This kind of delay of service is voter suppression, plain and simple,” Sasha said. “Not a single person in my station of around 50 employees believes this is anything other than active sabotage, and that includes supporters of the president.”

“Donald Trump may not have caused the coronavirus, but his dishonesty and his irresponsible actions made it so much worse,” she said, describing how she felt Trump “betrayed” her father.

“He had faith in Donald Trump, he voted him, listened to him, believed him and his mouthpieces when they said coronavirus was under control and would disappear, and that it was OK to end social-distancing rules before it was safe,” she said. “In late May, after the stay-at-home order was lifted in Arizona, my dad went to a karaoke bar with his friends. A few weeks later, he was put on a ventilator. And after five agonizing days, he died alone, in the ICU, with a nurse holding his hand.”

“My dad was a healthy 65-year-old,” she said. “His only pre-existing condition was trusting Donald Trump, and for that, he paid with his life.”

Every year the United States government pours millions of taxpayer dollars into constructing and maintaining a messy system of highways, byways, expressways, and freeways. But does this unsightly infrastructure turn a profit? Far from it. The Department of Transportation has been egregiously operating in the red for decades with no plan whatsoever to balance its books. Accordingly, the Wall Street Journal editorial board fully endorses President Trump’s bold plan to “Destroy all the roads! Blow them straight to hell!”

Trump's Criticism of Steve Bannon's Border Wall Project Is a Change in Tune

President Donald Trump wasted no time Thursday distancing himself from Steve Bannon...

Several of the people involved in the project have ties to Trump—including Bannon, former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and Blackwater USA founder Erik Prince...

One of Trump's sons has given the organization praise; Kobach has said that Trump gave the group his blessing; and Trump pushed for the federal government to award a GOP donor with ties to We Build the Wall a major border wall contract.

All corruption all the time

In Mary Trump's audio, Barry also expressed frustration with her brother’s demeanor which she said was phony.

“His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God,” she said. “I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy shit.”

“It’s the phoniness of it all. It’s the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel,” she added.

“ The earliest recorded evidence of shitshow dates from the 1970s. At the time, it had the connotation of something that is a mockery, a chaotic event, or a horrible situation. Over time, the mockery connotation receded, making space for the sense of a shitshow as a spectacle, which gained prominence and nuance over the years.

A shitshow is not simply something that goes disastrously wrong; it can also be something that goes entertainingly wrong. Which kind of shitshow is which all comes down to perspective. The importance of this distinction is tone in context. There are people who genuinely lament the existence of a shitshow, and others who are entertained and excited by the prospect of one.

Today, while shitshow still references an event, it can also reference an ongoing situation (previously, this was a distinction made between the related terms shitshow and shitstorm).

Additionally a person can now be described as a shitshow. This can refer to a one-off instance of a person being a total mess or completely unprepared for something, or it can be a longer-term situation.”

So we got a thundering herd of republican career diplomats, politicians and military men who are speaking up boldly against Mister Trump. So with their experience, wisdom, education and general smarts, what's the chance that even they can't keep Trump from getting re-elected?

Whether or not you support President Trump--and I'm saying this as someone who's voted Libertarian the past two presidential elections--even thinking of voting for a party that will not across the board condemn rioting and looting and the subsequent murders that inevitably will, and have, occurred is a disgrace. The Democrats do not give a damn about anyone but themselves and are happy to see our cities burn while people are thrown into poverty and bankruptcy. These asshats didn't mention the riots in blue cities once--not once!--during their entire convention and you expect them to have your back? You get the country and the government you deserve.

If you have the time, I would suggest this long podcast in the Hong Kong democracy movement of the last 2 years: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/686/umbrellas-up.

The backbone of the protest-riot continuum are people in their teens and early 20s who don't have to work, are out of school, and are bored. They have a very strong sense of justice, like we did at that age. They have an absolutist world view refined by announcing it loudly every day since they could use social media. They know only the drama of FOX news and so make exaggerated and dramatic statements, even self-triggering. They are used to instant gratification and clear predictable rules as found in gaming. Polling reveals they are quite socialist as well.

We are stuck with them.

They have a complete misunderstanding of the role of violence in social change movements. They don't understand moving the majority as happened in the US civil rights movement, the anti-Vietnam War movement and many others, is how change happens. The other way it happens is that powerful leaders take a risk on change as did Lyndon Johnson and Mandela & DeKlerk. They confuse correlation with causation in the case of riots and change.

The anarchist police harassment in Portland, rioting, and vandalism are dramatized by the media. It doesn't really affect every day life here. It's wrong and unnecessary, I agree. I think it is setting back the BLM movement.

A friend's store was looted, he is Japanese. Lebanese and Persian businesses were destroyed in our main looting was about 4 days after George Floyd's death on a Saturday night. Another night a local black restaurant had their tables and chairs stolen to make fires. The mob in Portland is often just plain dumb, especially with fire. As for Kenosha, the police have been developing a bad reputation for years, so the response is not unexpected, no matter how illegal.

Many of the young people do not know the tools of change and are acting out (unnecessarily and unproductively) of a sense of powerlessness.

As for why democrats are not speaking out about that. I believe they know they cannot change the minds of the young people. Trump's law and order is aimed at old people, as was Nixon's. What the BLM movement needs are similar age peers to lead it out. Hopefully we will get better history curriculum K-12 in time.

What the Hong Kong podcast reveals is that the Hong Kong protesters have the same sense of powerlessness and hopelessness. But they are still doing it.

“Not just the general atmosphere of gloating and sneering, rage and contempt. Not even the fact that the White House was pimped for political gain. Nor even the build-up speeches from functionaries, like the Secretary of State, that consisted of…nothing whatsoever but veneration and prostration to the immaculate perfection of Dear Leader.
There was the fact that much of the night consisted of…well…Trumps. Authoritarianism is a family business — Big Daddy builds a dynasty, and his kids pick up the mantle. That was the message of Eric and Tiffany Trump giving equally bizarre speeches. Imagine for a moment if Hunter Biden or Malia Obama gave a speech at the DNC. The nation’s pundits would be in an uproar. But Eric Trump? Apparently that’s OK, because we’ve all been worn down by Trump’s transgressions by now. What on earth do Eric and Tiffany Trump have to say about…anything? What do they know about…anything? Yet there they were. Why? Let me make the import of this moment clear.
The authoritarian is now grooming his kids to take over the family business, which is dictatorship, the abuse of power, fascism.”

https://eand.co/the-trumps-are-gaslight ... b1d35ee864

“ Wait, what? 180,000 dead and counting, 30 million unemployed, 50 million facing eviction, a massive wave of bankruptcies, an economy teetering into depression, the worst public health crisis since…forever. That’s reality. Trump is the worst President there’s ever been, and that’s not a political statement — it’s an objective empirical reality.”

That may be exactly the point. The use of agents provocateurs is a time-tested technique for discrediting any legitimate protest movement.
The old union protestors had special units for rooting out and stopping these agents from coming in from the outside and destroying their cause. I don't think that BLM is that disciplined yet, or are filled with so much rage that they identify with the destruction to some degree. But it works against their cause.
