Re: So who is still going?
I think I’ll just park the truck/camper out on the playa and stay there.
You can hardly social-distance more than that.
So who’s gonna put up a makeshift man?

If you're strolling around at night, make sure you don't fall asleep standing up.

That's one word I regret googling during breakfast.

Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.
.
, but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.

Cool... I’m gonna see them live on the open playa in about a week.

Re: So who is still going?
I know a few folks out there right now. It's currently perceptibly emptier than that other things that happen in the desert outside of Burning Man...
I thought long and hard about going. I have a camp of folks out there who kept their time off that they normally do, so they'll be there for a while. I live within a single days driving distance, and without traffic, it's even short enough for it to be less than a full work day. 75% of our camp is set-up and they intend on operating as if it's _____playa, and there appears to be a small contingent of people calling this "Seplaya," I've also heard the unburn...
I decided against it because as much as I love the Black Rock Desert, I am feeling the stress of everything this year and there are things in my personal life I should deal with... but if that weren't the case? Shit, I'd probably be in a tent right now.

Statewide fire ban in Nevada, no open flames. Not even your poofer. I love a dark night sky but a campfire/barrel is kinda a must for me.

Re: So who is still going?
Definitely going! My stated excuse is I’m doing this solely to piss-off the smuggies on Facebook who think Burns should only be held by and thru the Borg, and it is irresponsible and morally wrong to camp in the desert without a McLarry badge. Of course the real reason is I miss hauling all my stuff out there to see how many extended warranties I can break.
We will not be taking “Big Johnson” (our 40 foot skoolie), but we are still bringing shade, freezer, genny, lights and a ton of food. It wont be our biggest spash on the playa by far, but then again we had like 4 days to put this together and we’re bring it from Deep South Texas between hurricanes.
If any of you fellow fuckos come by just before the Howl, we’ll feed you, Texas style. Or just show-up at random hours and look haggard and Beams will figure out something to feed you.
Look for a white Toyota Tundra, 10x20 shade, “Fish Out Of Water” banner and lots of cafe-style lights. We answer to Sunbeam & Grey. Capt Goddammit and the First Mate should be co-located or close by.

Re: So who is still going?
My rig will indeed be parked by Grey.
Big white dually with camper on it.
There’s World War Three going on on Facebook about it, yet people are camping at campgrounds all over the place in much closer proximity and they think that’s fine.
The more the Facebookers squeak about it, the more pictures from the real playa I’ll post while they have their VR headsets on, attending Virtual Burning Man... what a fucking joke.
Fire? No problem, propane fire pits are allowed and they actually work great. I’m bringing mine.

Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

Re: So who is still going?
WTF is the disconnect with these Facebook groups? I posted a query on the Flipside group about who was going to TTITD with the intention of maybe doing a caravan. For that cardinal sin I got banned for 30 days. Honest to Pete, all I asked asked was “is anyone going?” NO explanation. Nothing. Really?
Never been banned from anything before. Just... wow.
A thought has been creeping around my head for a while: Burners are turning into a bunch of pussies. Seems that it is true. At least for the Texas burners.
See ya in the Dust, Capt!

There’s a lot of chatter on the Burningman sub on Reddit. More and more people saying they will be showing up.

Good to hear. Maybe this year will be less Walt Disney and more Hunter S. Thompson.

DAMMIT ....
Why why WHY did I trade my van for a tiny Toyota...!!?
My heart and soul will be on playa with you guys, but the rest of me is stuck in Texas, begrudgingly dealing with adulting.
I’m not so secretly hoping that this rebel adventure becomes a thing. Maybe after I make it past at least the one year mark of new car payments I’ll be willing to overload it with gear and fuck up the paint with playa dust...
Remember....pics or it never happened. I’ll be watching and waiting for the proof!
Fuck all yalls unburn/Seplaya!

Word is - and it’s just rumors floating in the breeze- that the general burner zone will be north of where BRC usually is.
