What....That's still a thing?
Cultural appropriation? Do I go over to your house during one of your BDSM sessions and slap the Nazi SS officer hat off of your head? - Bob
Re: Rest In Peace
I Lost another
Chris H. and I met when we were four years old. She lived just down the street from me.
In the summer I used to float down a small irrigation canal that ran past her house. We ran in different circles in high school. But always greeted each other as friends.
I was sad to recently find out she took her own life.
The world keeps trying to kill us in so many ways... it’s my opinion ...suicide is not a viable answer to your problems.
Sighs~

Sorry for your loss.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Re: Rest In Peace
My friend... when Mother Nature invented empathy, she did a devastatingly competent job of it.
Suicide, as with all acts of defensive warfare, takes place in either of two perspectives: strategic or tactical – planning for the long term; and dealing with immediate needs, anticipated and otherwise.
Either way, and again as in other defensive desperation, the goal and the need is not to end life, but to end pain.
As a society we tend to address symptoms -- the acute pain -- when we ought to address the reasons pain arises.
This may belong under the heading of psychological Denial, but the many layers of this question remain unclear to me.
And that is as far as I am able to see at the moment.

Puts his arm around Elliots shoulder.
Well ...yeah we can try to categorize it. But I think we both know it’s a highly complex issue.
The first friend I had that committed suicide was in junior high. When we came back from summer for school we found out he had shot himself over the summer. Star athlete head of his class ....somebody you would not think would need to kill himself.
I don’t try to explain why it happened I’m just sad that it did.
But then there’s stupidcide. People who unintentionally killed them selves by a stupid act.
I had a math teacher in high school that had bought himself a pistol. He shoved the cocked weapon into his belt while out shooting all by himself ....shot himself ...then bled to death because he was by himself with no one there to help him.
More recently I Learned that a long time friend. Was trying to push a car up onto a trailer by himself and let the car roll back over him ....killing him.
With Terry, we wondered how long before something like that was going to happen.
In that same conversation with my friend Tony... he also told me that an ex boss/mutual friend of mine was in the mountains swimming and camping. After a swim he thought it was a good idea to light a kerosene heater.... put it in a closed tent with him and go to sleep. He never woke up.
With Bill, he was a very intelligent person why he would do something stupid like that is beyond me.
And then there’s murder suicide.
In that same conversation.
I Learned that a friend of mine named Brian. Was in prison For killing his wife.
He was in for manslaughter.
His wife had become extremely sick with cancer and they decided to commit suicide by him killing her and then him killing himself.
They decided to use a 22 caliber.
Unfortunately the first shot did not kill her.
So he shot her some more times. And that didn’t end her life instantly either. Brian being who he was stayed holding her until she passed but just couldn’t shoot himself afterwards. He just called the police to explain what happened and turn himself in.
In court her entire family fought for him to stay out of jail. Because she was in such a bad state they understood he was trying to end her pain at her request. In court the multiple shots meant he had to spend some time in jail.
It’s my opinion that suicide or assisted suicide in any form is not a solution it only causes more pain than it solves.
Don’t.... please don’t.

Re: Rest In Peace
Sorry Duck. Sad indeed. Very sorry to hear this.
I lost two more to brain cancer while I was in the desert. One, The firstborn of a very close cousin Russell. You shouldn’t have to watch your adult kids die like that. One more a third with cancer…has lung liver and gallbladder cancer. Also a very close cousin. Not expected to live. Sadly Donnie was the lead singer of Mozy Fucking Bonz the band. Yes that’s where I get my name from. Used to be part of the road crew also.
Very likely cancer will take me out also. The odds are extremely high. Runs in my family. But will I be the last one standing? Starting to look like it.
More likely my wife.
Who knows. Life is to short to worry about it.
Bring it on life.
Smooches an old friend~
And I think red convertible Mustang guy wins the best alternative vehicle for renegade burn or any burn. I so wanted to catch up with this guy. Every time I saw him he disappeared in a cloud of dust. Was it a rental? His ex lovers car? His ex wife’s car? Did he just hate Mustangs? Questions!?!?!
Loved it. Clearly the guy has a sense of humor. Burner all the way.
Almost as good was the motorhome pulling a boat pulling an off-road skateboarder on a dry lake bed.
Classic.

Re: Rest In Peace
I'm sitting here fucking stunned like somebody smacked me between the eyes with a sledgehammer. FUCK! i must report two losses to my heart today, The first was my Masters' program advisor from back 30 years ago at the University. He was one of the extremely rare individuals who KNEW who was going to graduate and only provided minimal oversight to the capable few. I ran into him at the public library a few years back, and he told me (15 years after I graduated) that he was proud of the things I'd done since graduation. I respected him before he told me, and did so even more afterwards. His approval was as valuable to me as that of my own father.
My second loss was of my friend Dr. Carny, fellow burner at TTITD as well as the local regional. We were both Interrangers at many regional events, and helped a lot of noobs with gentle guidance, willingness to listen, and occasionally pulling off a miracle for those who needed it most (Once we actually helped a camper by using a slim jim to help them get into their car, satisfying their need while we listened to jazz on the radio - the joke we told that night was we owed our success to Felonius Monk.)
Brothers,I'll miss you both and tell your stories to keep you alive in my heart. I can give you no finer tribute.
